SANTA FE – New Mexico reported the death of its youngest COVID-19 victim so far – a preteen boy – as it set a number of troubling records Tuesday, including new daily highs in cases, hospitalizations and deaths.
The youngster’s identity and age weren’t disclosed because of health privacy rules. But state officials described him as a male 12 or younger from Bernalillo County.
He had been hospitalized and had an underlying health condition of some kind.
The state reported 28 fatalities related to the virus Tuesday – the most in a single day so far. The other deaths were adults ranging in age from their 30s to their 90s.
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham described the boy’s death as the first pediatric COVID-19 fatality in New Mexico.
“Please understand: This is an emergency,” she tweeted.
The statewide death toll related to the coronavirus now stands at 1,264 residents, according to the Department of Health. A forecast by Los Alamos National Laboratory estimates New Mexico will reach 2,100 virus deaths within six weeks.
Among Tuesday’s record-setting totals:
• The 28 deaths reported are the most in a day, about 22% higher than the previous record of 23, set Nov. 5.
• Testing detected 2,112 new cases of the disease, about 21% higher than the previous record for a day, set Thursday last week.
• More than 750 virus patients are now in New Mexico hospitals, the most ever reported to the public, though the state recently changed its method of recording hospitalizations. It now gets them directly from the hospitals rather than relying on case investigations and contact tracing.
Human Services Secretary David Scrase said Tuesday state officials have been expecting an increase in coronavirus-related deaths, after a previous surge in hospitalizations.

Lots of rumors out here - I heard last night is that if you had a flu shot, you will get a positive covid-19 test - no way to now the veracity of such a claim. Most of those I know and work with say they won't get tested because if you're positive you have to stay home for 14 days and lose pay from work even if no symptoms. Most know the symptoms and will take precautions. Already in lockdown in NM. I'm single and have been invited to Thanksgiving with a farm family and relatives in a remote location miles from the nearest town. They dare any LEO to come and tell them to disperse!
NM list PING!

NYS’s stats are crap.
Bet NM’s are, too...
I want to know definitively how many have died OF COVID vs. WITH COVID. This info is purposely being kept from all of us.
“But state officials described him as a male 12 or younger from Bernalillo County. He had been hospitalized and had an underlying health condition of some kind.”
Sprained ankle? Acne? Appendicitis? Asthma? Leukemia? Cardiac arrhythmia? Might that matter?
The daily totals here list age and whether each deceased had underlying conditions. Even that young boy that died had some type of an underlying condition, but the type not revealed.
An example of how New Mexico reports cases can be found at this link:
https://cv.nmhealth.org/2020/11/17/new-mexico-covid-19-update-2112-new-cases-totaling-67559/
If they could post a pic of him/her/what ever the hell they think they are now you’d see its either a black kid with cillalcell or a fat kid or just a very sick kid to begin with!
Looks like the lockdowns are not working. The solution, obviously, is to double down on the worthless lockdowns. Because twice nothing is better than nothing. That’s just common core.
I want to know TOTAL deaths from all causes compared to previous years.
It is a virus it spreads...these people are all fools..and like fools we obey!!!!!!!!!!
One of the covid 28 fell into a covid elevator shaft in an abandoned covid building and landed on some covid bullets. Cause of death: covid.
Stay safe, Dave...and just remember to save a bullet for yourself! ;)
My Aunt lives in NM and Mom & Sis were just out there to bury my Uncle (her husband) after he had died back in February - of Pancreatic Cancer, NOT Wuhan Flu.
No one attending has come down with anything - and it was a HUGE funeral with people flying and driving in from many different states; my Uncle was much loved. :)
What does “related” mean?
I have soooo much confidence in the govt these days!
In this testing, does it distinguish between covid or the flu?
Does it for example say...good news, bad news.... you don’t have Covid, but you do have the flu?
Why do I feel that anyone with a seasonal cold/flu is being counted as a covid case...and guess what, here it is November....middle of the season for that....
I got my flu shot about two weeks ago. My doctor mentioned the shingles vaccine, but said now is not a good time for that one because it causes a slight fever which could cause one to be quarantined if a temperature monitor detects a high reading.
Based on the fact that flu has magically disappeared this year I am assuming that if you have the flu you test positive for COVID.
New Mexico is heavily Hispanic, and one of the highest correlations to covid transmission is households of greater than 6 people. Hispanics have lots of multi-generational households.
The most cases in my county (in CA) are found in the city with the highest percentage of Hispanics (also there’s an Indian casino in that city and apparently they are exempt from all of our tyrannical governor’s edicts).
That would be a nice stat to have but we'll probably never get it. Certainly COVID is a very serious issue for the elderly and people with one or more specific pre-existing conditions. It would be interesting to see the outcome breakdowns, given the various combinations of people with COVID who are elderly and/or have one or more pre-existing conditions.
The PCR test is totally unreliable and its inventor says it should not de used to diagnose covid. The amplification cycles can cause up to 90% false positives, many indicating you’ve had nothing more than a cold in the past 30 days. Deaths are almost 100% related to underlying causes.
ROFLOL!!
Now that made me laugh!!
Thanks!!!
