Prayers needed!
November 14, 2020 | PrinceofSpace

I’m asking for prayers for my son-in-law. My daughter just informed me tonight that she’s leaving him this weekend while he’s out of town. I knew they were having problems and she “wasn’t happy,” but I was hoping she’d come to her senses and realize she was being stupid. Unfortunately, she hasn’t. They’re both 32, have been married for 7 years with no kids, and they are employed.

The reason I’m asking for prayers is the way she’s chosen to leave the marriage. He’s coming home Sunday to a note explaining that she’s gone. I love him to death but he’s got a negative outlook on life in general. I know how I’d feel if it happened to me and my heart breaks for him. I believe he also has a gun, although we live in Arizona so who doesn’t?

I’ve been here for over 20 years, including as a lurker, but this is only my second post. I’m really feeling anxious about this situation so I’m asking freepers to lift up Adam in prayer and surround his heart with love to help him get through this dark time. Thank you in advance!

I didn’t realize asking for prayers was “meddling.” But thanks anyway.

Praying for all involved. Ignore the negative responses on here. Unless someone has been involved in a situation like this they have no concept of still loving and caring about the soon to be ex-spouse of a child. My son was at fault in his divorce and I’m still friends with his ex-wife. I simply told him that “he divorced her, I didn’t”. And yes, I love my son unconditionally too and he understood and is fine with it now.

Thank you! I love them both and it hurts my heart to see their marriage ending. I told her that I’ll still care about him, but I love her no matter what and my loyalty lies with her. I’m hoping and praying that everything turns out okay for both of them.

Your son-in-law has my prayers. Our youngest daughter is a few years older than yours. I understand exactly how you feel. Fortunately, after 3 failed long term relationships, 2 failed marriages and 3 grandchildren all from different fathers, she finally married a man who is a conservative and considerably older than her. Somehow she has now been on the straight and narrow for several years now.

The knee jerk reactions by some of those here who here who have never been through something similar to what you are going through. I felt incredibly sorry for some of the guys our youngest daughter got involved with. We love our daughter but she was very bad news for young men.
Sometimes I really wanted to warn them ahead of time.

Your feelings for your son in law aside, I would trust my daughter’s feelings. Should she lose her life, it is gone forever and in reality, you would lose two times. But , in reality, you never know. You have some tough decisions to make that can only be made by you. I wish you good luck. Since no one knows what the future holds, you just have do the best you can, based on what you know. Again, good luck.

I’m sorry you’re getting so much flak for your post.

Prayers up for the situation.

Has your daughter even ever considered marriage counciling?
Has he?

You're trying to micromanage your adult daughter's life by siding with her dark, negative husband who she has apparently decided to leave.

Your priority should be with your daughter, not her troubled husband.

You're meddling.

It's amazing how so many people here feel compelled to pass judgement and engage in speculation about the circumstances of your daughter's marriage beyond what you have told us. They do not know you, your daughter, or your son in law, and have no first hand knowledge of the situation. You have asked for prayer, and nothing else.

You and your family are in my prayers.

Prayers offered for the entire family. Family breakups are almost always traumatic, but sometimes they are justified. Just be there for both of them, and tell your SIL that there are plenty of other good women out there that would be delighted to know that he is a fee agent. Help him realize that he has a dark outlook on life and must work to overcome this, as it most likely is the reason his wife finally left him.

Life is so darn complicated, and this election fraud does not help one bit.

Prayers for your entire family. May I add this: YOU may think YOUR daughter has told you everything but she hasn’t. No daughter has ever told her Mother every little detail of their private life. My best advice is this: tell your SIL that you love him and you will always love him even after their divorce. There isn’t any children in the picture so maybe... just maybe... both of them will find true happiness in the years to come. There are a lot of Freepers who have found true, kind, honest love AFTER a divorce. I know you don’t like the way your daughter is “telling” him that their relationship is over but their may be a reason for it. It sounds like your description of him being “dark” and you have a fear that he may have a weapon... well... that is very telling. Prayers for all involved.

That’s the way my daughter was before she met her husband at age 21. We all joked that we wanted to tell the new BF he’d only last 6 months and not to get too attached. This guy was different though and they seemed happy. He doesn’t have a temper AFAIK; he’s more of a gentle giant so I think he’d hurt himself rather than anyone else.

He’s on a weekend getaway with the guys, including my other SIL who drove them, so hopefully he’ll be with him when he reads the letter. They’re really close and he can help him through this.

I love my daughter dearly, even though I don’t understand her most of the time. Of course I want her to be happy, but I also hate to see anyone get hurt in her elusive quest for “happiness.” I don’t call that interfering; I call it parenting, no matter her age. She’s gonna do what she wants to do and always has. My job is to make her think before she jumps from the fat into the frying pan.

Thank you for your prayers and understanding.
