If you could retire w/in the US where would it be a why?
North Florida or South Texas...................good weather, most of the time, good people, good cost of living...................
If you ain’t sleeping in Texas, you’re just camping out.
I’ve spent almost all my years living in the Seattle/Tacoma area. We are in our last days before socialist/commie rule. I’m thinking of leaving. Other than politics, yes, this area is fantastic.
Ditto on the Panhandle of Fl. Near military installations etc...if you go about 18-20 miles east you run into Navarre. This is where my heart lives. You have a lot more peace and quiet there. It used to be known as Fl best kept secret bus has grown a bit since then. Not a lot of industry there but if you’re retired......
San Diego - great weather, feels like small town, love their military.
I would LOVE to get a group of like minded people together and do just that.
We all have our own stateroom, we all cook, clean, pay for food and fuel.
Stay moored somewhere nice and when it storms move somewhere else.
And have big harpoons to take care of pirates.
PS: And very liberal gun laws; get ammo in the mail and no mag size restrictions, CWP are as issue and no waiting period on long guns or for hand guns with CWP’s.
Melbourne Beach, Florida! (It’s where we are headed this month!)
Knoxville is far easr TN, practically in NC.
Nashville is middle TN. Don’t move there, it sucks. But most of the cities around it, like here in Franklin, are nice.
Two Drawbacks for San Diego...
1) CROWDED and
2) California EXPENSIVE!
Very true, it was theft. Great excuse to give them their freedom.
If I told you the secret would get out.
Should try the OP; we’re like a different state. We’re totally ignored by the “Eastsiders” (B’vue, Redmond, Seattle, ect)
I recommend we all retire at Nancy Pelosis mansion and eat ice cream.
Arizona,
Hobbies.
Guam.
If you can deal with the higher cost of living there.
The only real issue in healthcare
If you are ex-military - there is a VA hospital without a line
If you are not ex-military health care can be spotty to the point where people fly to Manila or Hong Kong. However, the upside there is that medical treatment in both of those places cost less than the average in the US. When we lived in HK I flew my mother in for cataract surgery because it was 1/3 of the cost in the US.

Otherwise:
Good beaches
Good fishing
Wonderful weather
Tropical fruit tress in the yard
Low taxes.
Friendly natives
“..the open hatred of white people is nearing a dangerous level.”
I had no idea. When did this become a problem? Can’t be good for tourism.
Okay,
I’m there!
The cost of living in the panhandle has gone through the roof in the past decade. I have a Brother-in-Law and his wife that live in the Ft. Walton Beach area, and their $150,000 house that they built a mile from the beach in 1995 is now valued at over $750,000.
