An article in the New England Journal of Medicine has suggested that “substantive penalties” be used to enforce compliance in taking the upcoming COVID-19 vaccine, including loss of employment.
The journal published an article on June 26 titled, “Ensuring Uptake of Vaccines against SARS-CoV-2.” They suggested that the suspension of employment would be a less coercive manner of enforcing vaccine compliance than fines or other criminal penalties.
The report states that “state mandates should not be structured as compulsory vaccination (absolute requirements); instead, noncompliance should incur a penalty.”

We all knew this was the goal. Some here even on FR would have no problem with this.
I am 4 years 4 months from full pension retirement. I have over 30 years of 16 hour work days and 30 day work weeks while far away from home. I will do nothing to risk that retirement package that has been paid for a dozen times over the years in blood sweat and tears.
Don’t think that we cannot generate a pseudo-vaccine, ineffective against the Wuhan coronavirus but effective in producing some really nasty side effects. Compulsory vaccination apparently excludes the possibility of obtaining the medical, religious, or philosophical waivers generally applicable to compulsory vaccination of schoolchildren.
We had a very deadly influenza pandemic more than a century ago, and we still lack an effective influenza vaccine. Indeed, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention routinely lists influenza among the top ten causes of death for Americans. With plenty of incentive and more than a century of time for development, the best we can find is a vaccine that lasts a few months with 30% effectiveness in a good year, and most years aren’t so good.
So don’t expect an effective vaccine for the Wuhan coronavirus in the succeeding year or even decade. Instead, anticipate escalating tyranny and the imposition of Maoism or some closely related form of Communism, especially upon the election of a Democrat.

It’s just one more step along the way.
There will be no place to hide, eventually, no way to work and earn an income and no way to buy nor sell.

This article appears to be applying this requirement to all forms of employment, whether you're working at McDs, digging ditches, programming computers -- whatever. That's an unprecedented overreach.
As always, the question is "Cui bono?" And the answer from 'authorities' is always "The People". And all to often, that's a lie.
The ACLU is calling it a violation of civil rights and while I despise them they have a good record for winning.

But many places (including some of the largest healthcare employers in the country) already had policies in place: get vaccinated or don’t work here.
As for the article, it’s some people posting their opinions on how to coerce people into getting vaccinated. They’re free to post their opinions as they like. Now show me a government policy mandating it for everyone and I’ll absolutely oppose that. I think it would be a poor decision to not take a vaccine for this bug, but in this country, we’re supposed to have the freedom to make poor decisions.
I got nothing to lose. Hazards of being retired. Come and get me.
