Corona: 1. Use this as an excuse to slash government regulation, especially climate hoax regulation 2. I care about the people being killed by economic stagnation more than the Covid people since very few people seem to care very much about the former group. 3. The speed of disease spread in the USA needs to be faster. We are way under max medical capacity right now. (See point 3 for reason) 4. Don’t bail out any companies or industries. 5. I said the justification for increasing the speed was on point 3...it is actually in point 2. Once daily deaths level off then we are at the half way point for the crisis. If we are too “good” at preventing the spread then the duration of the crisis is extended and more people die for economic reasons.

There is a balance between the disease and the economy - it is not an easy balance to figure out.

Bingo. It's a very tough calculus. Obama apparently opted to come 100% down on the economic side and write off 17,000 lives with H1N1. Trump is coming down 100% on the side of human life, supremely confident that the economy will rebound.

He may be right or wrong about that, but his respect for human life is something I must admire in him.

There are plenty of medical students who can bag people for days.

If we have 100,000 vents and the seriously ill need a vent for 5 days we can treat 20,000 people. Maybe a bit more because dead people don’t need a vent. Distribution won’t match demand wipes out that discount. There’s the bottle neck. If we hit 20,000 seriously ill the death rate goes way up. 4% to 8% for those who can’t get vents or a medical student to bag them for days it goes to 100%.

Exactly. Should we drive 80% of our small businesses into bankruptcy because we are afraid we might overwhelm our hospitals sometime in the future?

Another sobering point: if you get the Coronavirus and need assistance to breathe, you must go the hospital but they have no way of treating you. They'll just watch you. And 1 in 31 patients get infections from the hospital visit itself.

I agree with what you are saying but I think it is very bad to assume that lockdowns, quarantines, etc. demonstrate a respect for life more than someone who puts the economy first.
