I said the justification for increasing the speed was on point 3...it is actually in point 2. Once daily deaths level off then we are at the half way point for the crisis. If we are too good at preventing the spread then the duration of the crisis is extended and more people die for economic reasons.
There is a balance between the disease and the economy - it is not an easy balance to figure out.

No one is really talking the flattened curve that runs out double the distance horizontally.
We could be stuck in this limbo of shut-down for a very long time as the country is huge!!!
I was all for flattening the curve to save lives, but at what sacrifice to the entire population as people lose homes, income, and eventually their own lives from the sheer anxiety and stress. We are going to see people die from this madness either way.
It sounds horrible but we are giving the lives of the many for the few...I don’t want other people severely economically hurt if I get sick. I am ok with my God in that regard. I don’t want other people stripped of their own ability to live as they go on to survive this crisis.
