The Air Force has never wanted to do Close Air Support.

That is what the A-10 does better than any other aircraft has ever done.

The Air Force has never wanted to do Close Air Support.

They want it off their budget. Let the Army or the Marines pay for it. It's part of their mission.

“I mean, with the infantry doing the real fighting and the Air Force being the helpers.”

Been a while since I watched that. :-)

The Air Force never wanted this plane - or it’s mission. It should be turned back over to the Army who really use/appreciate it.

USAF just completed a massive upgrade program on most of the A10’s including new wings. They may put a few in storage but the A10’s will be flying for many more years. Planes are often cycled through storage to manage the fleet.

It’s not a super sexy stealthy zillion dollar aircraft so the AF doesn’t want it.

Played golf at Indian Lake Estates in Central Florida yesterday.

Aircraft bombing range, used by Navy and Air force, is located just a couple of miles away from the course.

2 A-10’s were in action yesterday...AWESOME!

Yeah, reading further into the article, the 44 A10s being retired are the oldest in the inventory.

My bad!

The Marines would love it. BUT fixed wing Marine Corps aircraft must be carrier capable. The A-10 isn’t. *sigh*

I’m an old Army guy who knows nothing about the Air Force (and nothing about combat) but I thought that the A-10 was very useful in a number of combat scenarios.
