Abstract
Sepsis is a devastating disease that carries an enormous toll in terms of human suffering and lives lost. Over 100 novel pharmacologic agents that targeted specific molecules or pathways have failed to improve the outcome of sepsis. Preliminary data suggests that the combination of Hydrocortisone, Ascorbic Acid and Thiamine (HAT therapy) may reduce organ failure and mortality in patients with sepsis and septic shock. HAT therapy is based on the concept that a combination of readily available, safe and cheap agents, which target multiple components of the hosts response to an infectious agent, will synergistically restore the dysregulated immune response and thereby prevent organ failure and death. This paper reviews the rationale for HAT therapy with a focus on vitamin C.

Conclusions
Glucocorticoids, vitamin C and thiamine have important biological effects in patients with sepsis and septic shock. Due to the overlapping and synergistic effects of these remarkably safe and inexpensive drugs, the combination of these agents (HAT therapy) likely restores the dysregulated immune system and bioenergetic failure that characterizes sepsis. We, therefore, propose that HAT therapy will improve both the short-term (mortality) and long-term (post-sepsis syndrome) outcome of patients with sepsis and septic shock. Multiple randomized controlled trials are currently underway to test this hypothesis

This therapy is an inexpensive option to simply address sepsis/septic shock. The studies continue to run, but the success rates are high. The whole writeup is at the link above.
I wish my grandmother had not died of septic shock in the hospital, but maybe now your loved ones will have it better.
Share this information with others who may be dealing with dire problems which could lead to septic shock.
You may safe a life a doctor couldnt.

There’s no money in it, therefore it will be ignored.
So much of what we know just isn’t true.
Medicine.
Economics.
Politics.
The list could go on. The experts tell us a lot of stuff — and sometimes they’re right. But less often than one might think.
Quite a few people die of sepsis while hospitalized . thank you for posting this, and Merry Christmas!
Good friend of mine who is an intensivist s a big fan of this
Significant saline fluid boluses have had a huge effect on mortality in sepsis.
preventing sepsis also needs attention. Some Doctors and hospitals order too many surgeries, biopsys, cesarians and other invasive procedures because the insurance and medicaid or medicare will pay for it and not because the patient needs it.
Those unnecessary procedures are done more casually and with less atention to preventing sepsis than the needed procedures. This is true of not just sepsis, but of other mistakes and errors.
Follow the money.
Thank you very much for your posts - I read them all.
Merry Christmas!!

I had a relative die of it. By the time they figured out what it was instead of the flu it would have been too late. Swift death from Doc saying flu.
You follow the money, I'll trust the doctors...............
This is off topic for the thread, but illustrative of the problem.
When you go to the doctor because you just started having flu symptoms, you are prescribed Tamiflu for either Type A or Type B strains. Before that, however, doctors say you will need to get your flu typed. That is a flat out lie. Either strain gets the same drug.
When asked why, the doctor will say the symptoms arent 100% the flu (you have a 103 temperature, though and everything else is also presenting). He will then say typing it will help him know what to do and the CDC wants the information. Tell him you know your symptoms all point to the flu and the same medicine treats both strains. Follow this up by saying if the CDC really wants to know the strain, why dont they pay for it? The doctor will respond, your insurance will pay for it. Remind him that you pay the deductible and you havent met it, yet. Then demand he use his brain and his training and determine for himself you have the flu and that he must give you that prescription.
I have had to do this three timestwo times with flu my wife had. Only the first lady forced me to type my flu and then came back and told me (20 minutes later), Wow, you have Type A flu. I learned something today! That typing cost me $175 extra FOR NOTHING!
After having to strong arm two intervening doctors into not typing my wifes later flues, we are now encouraging everyone to use Teledoc-type services. Those doctors take your temperature and symptoms and give you the prescription if it fits. She only paid $40 for the complete visit.
One other stupid time with a doctor was with my skin cancer. The spot looked exactly like dozens of basal cell examples on medical sites. She insisted on slicing it off and testing it. It came back as basal cell (no kidding). She set me up for burning off the remaining 3% (yes, she said she got 97% in the skin that is now a scar). I went in, but had found a simple cream that blows up basal cell carcinomas. She had the equipment warmed up when I asked her if I could do the cream. She looked surprised, then told me that guys normally dont care about the scarring, but then gave me a prescription for a month of cream. I went back and she said it was all gone.
I only realized later that the cancer test and the whole scar thing were both unnecessary. The cream was all that was needed. I could have put that on and come back a month later and if it was gone, it was obviously basal cell carcinoma. No scar, no extra testno extra COSTS!
Doctors are programmed to waste money on useless approaches because they are trained this way. We have to be stay on top of them BECAUSE TOO MANY DO NOT PRACTICE IN PRACTICAL WAYS. These doctors are on autopilot and never get anyone who challenges THEIR STUPIDITY.
Challenge their stupidity and save your lived ones anguish and money.
Never trust the doctors.

I did.....and the post is BS. I can come up with one extreme circumstance in virtually every aspect of life but that doesn't mean it's the norm.
Posts like that focus on one event, just like the MSM does, while completely ignoring the millions of lives that were saved via the very medical practice that is being criticized.......
No thanks, I have a family of physicians who would argue the same........
I suppose you trust all car salesmen and mechanics, too.
At best, trust, but verify. Doctors are not gods and do not know nearly enough.
As a post script, I had a good friend who died of cancer last year simply because he chose to ignore the traditional cancer treatment recommended by his oncologist and instead decided to follow the recommendations of some “holistic” doctor.......
I am only saying legitimate studiesno sham crud.
Read my initial post in this thread.
That's a losing argument if you're attempting to compare salesmen and mechanics to medical professionals..........Nice try but epic fail
