"Tonight from the right part of Earth, at the right time you might catch a rich burst of meteors from the constellation Monoceros the Unicorn. The shower might produce a burst of 100 meteors in just 15 minutes. Memorable and fun! Plus how to watch online...."

That said, there is a map showing that the East Coast will have the best chance of viewing and a sky chart showing where to look. They predict about 11:50 p.m. November 21 Eastern time. (10:50 p.m. Central)
There are links in the story to two other sites that have additional information including the Dutch site that is predicting the possibility of this event.
Good luck and good viewing!
This is what wiped out the dinosaurs.
Completely overcast.
Meteors?
You want meteors?
I got meteors.
They dont come cheap.
These are good meteors.
Prime.
But I only take cash.
*ping*
Sure.....sure.....
You dont need no stinkin meteors.
Until you do!
And then youll really need em!
And then the price goes up!
Much lower meteor count than you can typically see in the Perseids every year.
This is a minor short lived shower, something like an hour. Perseids—if I recall—can be seen over several nights.
To me, a short definite period of time is an attractive thing. Go out, watch for 45 minutes, its over, go inside and get warm again. You don’t have to wait all night hoping for a flurry of meteors.
I saw 3 meteors one night several years ago. That was the most I ever saw at one time. I don’t remember if it was associated with a particular shower. I saw a Taurid a about 10 days ago.
I do not live in a dark area and its predicted to be cloudy tonight. Not certain if I will be outside tonight. If clear, I will give it a try. Otherwise I will probably view it online.
Good luck to everybody who does have good viewing weather!
Actually I miscalculated and you’ll see more meteors in this shower per hour. Anyway, I saw three meteors not just in the same night, but shooting in formation together. It was just one of those random times you look up at the sky.
Supposedly, it will be a real show due to a comet passing nearby. 11 PM est, 8 PM Pacific is the start. It will only
last about 1 hour.
“But I only take cash.”
Sorry, only have a credit card! They’ll just have to remaining in the cold locker and “Blue Up” a bit until the next pass by!
(Say Hi to Babe the Blue Ox when you see him!”
I thought that was ciggies....
My mother — who passed away earlier this year — saw a meteor storm as a young girl, probably in the 1920s, that presaged the Great Depression, as it turned out.
This was a true storm as she remembered it, with simultaneous bright meteors “all over” the sky. And the sky over Iowa was pretty dark at that time.
(Well goodness, why didn’t that show up on search?)
If anyone wants to check their weather tonight!
Me? Cloudy with chance of rain.
I’ll be just getting out of a jazz concert at that time, on the north (dark) side of the metro area. And possibility of Aurora as well!
Steve, from:
“2 AMO#246 history
This shower has previously produced four outbursts, in 1925, 1935, 1985 and 1995, of which 1995 was already predicted and the photographic observations revealed the exact radiant. This is important for modeling.” (More at link)
Hard clear here with only a trace of haze. Hoping for one show or the other.
