Yeah, I know youre rolling your eyes another day, another killer asteroid. Youll probably be thinking: This is just paranoid riffraff.
Well
it is, really. However, there is actually a dangerous lump of space rock barrelling towards us, and there is a (hilariously) small chance it could wallop our planet.
NASA first discovered the asteroid back in 2009. Over the past decade, the space agencys automated asteroid watching system known as Sentry has been tasked with keeping an eye on it.
Dont worry yourself too much though. NASA place the odds of JF1 actually hitting us at 0.026%, therefore theres more than a 99% chance that it will not. I doubt Paddy Power will let me put a tenner on.

On the outside chance that it strikes the earth. There’s about a 75% chance that it lands in an ocean.

I’m just happy NASA is actually doing something useful, not frittering away their funding on Muslim outreach and climate-change hysteria.

328 feet across. That’s pretty big. The speed and angle of attack is an unknown factor, though.
It will miss. I WANT it to miss.

My only question with these stories is, “How large is it?” Most of them aren’t large enough to be worth mention. Something a mile or more in diameter might be interesting with a hit.

Supposedly, we’re all dead already from some sure-fire catastrophe or another that never materialized. There was a thread here some weeks/months back wherein each posting “ghost” declared which disaster took them.
For example, I “died” in the 1980’s during a nuclear exchange!

Can we pick the city? If it hits Detroit, it will cause millions of dollars worth of improvements.

As long as it doesn’t change course because of some unknown factor.
