No country is fully equipped to deal with the next global pandemic, a major report has claimed.
Scientists say an outbreak of a flu-like illness could sweep across the planet in 36 hours and kill tens of millions due to our constantly-travelling population.
But a review of health care systems already in place across the world found just 13 countries had the resources to put up a fight against an 'inevitable' pandemic.
Among the countries ranked in the top tier were Britain, the US, Australia, Canada, France and Holland.
But given how fast the outbreak is likely to spread, experts warn even these nations may struggle to curb the disease.

12 Monkeys is one of my favorite movies. Also, the odd French film Le Jettee which provided inspiration for it.
Would a huge tax increase help, maybe?
Perhaps a deliberate release to distract the news cycle...
It’s ALREADY too late for a wall
Obama brought Ebola to the US.
Love that movie as well. Very under rated.
Oh, well, I guess we should stop construction.

It reminds me of lemmings jumping over the cliffs into the sea. It's God's nature culling the herd.
Nothing better than the Daily Mail for medical news.
Also love the way it turns Hollywood time-traveling cliches on their head
There's a documentary on Netflix "Unnatural Selection" where a GED educated guy in Mississippi is using CRISPR in his garage to genetically edit some dogs he is breeding. Apparently obtaining the tools necessary to make any genetic modifications desired is not too hard.
You would think it would have happened by now. People move around more than ever in the last 50 years. I wonder if the general decrease in malnutrition and vitamin deficiency also plays a part. You see pictures of the poorest folks like refugees and it seems like a lot of them are healthy and well fed. Then look at pictures of refugees from 100 years ago, different story.

Keep ‘em scared. Frightened people are easily manipulated with promises of safety.

Key word “could”.. an asteroid could hit the earth and wipe out tens of millions as well... so?
As for the pandemic we have been there, done that...

Estimate 50 Million died world wide.
My question is if it is so deadly why haven’t we had another world wide pandemic? Maybe there is more to a pandemic then just a virus or ease of travel. Could it be population density?
I don’t know but isn’t that why we have a public health department in our government, to plan for this type of thing?
A recent documentary on TV said if there is a worldwide pandemic the developed countries will be the worst hit due to the huge amount of travelers easily passing on the disease at airports.
3rd world, rural nations with limited travel will in many cases survive unscathed.
I’m sure a global tax managed thru the UN would fix it.
LOL
