They probably appeared in Poland approximately 300,000 years ago. The oldest stone tools they used, discovered on the Vistula, are over 200,000 years old, and the remains are over 100,000 years old."On the bank of the river in Pietraszyno, we discovered an unprecedented amount of flint products - 17,000 - abandoned by Neanderthals approximately 60,000 years ago" - says Dr. Andrzej Wisniewski from the Institute of Archaeology, University of Wroclaw. Since 2018, the researcher has been conducting joint excavations with researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig in the framework of a National Science Centre project. In his opinion, this is the first such large Neandertal workshop discovered in Central Europe that was not located in a cave... "The finds from Pietraszyno completely contradict the old vision of the use of open areas by Neanderthals. It appears that in this place a community was present over a longer period, as evidenced by the large number of discovered objects. In addition, there are also preserved remains of mammoth, rhinoceros and horse bones" - the scientist says.

In before some asswipe adds "piltdownman" to the keywords.
KEYWORDS: neandertal; neandertals; neanderthal; neanderthals
The Neandertal Enigma"Frayer's own reading of the record reveals a number of overlooked traits that clearly and specifically link the Neandertals to the Cro-Magnons. One such trait is the shape of the opening of the nerve canal in the lower jaw, a spot where dentists often give a pain-blocking injection. In many Neandertal, the upper portion of the opening is covered by a broad bony ridge, a curious feature also carried by a significant number of Cro-Magnons. But none of the alleged 'ancestors of us all' fossils from Africa have it, and it is extremely rare in modern people outside Europe." [pp 126-127]

The Flintstones didn’t come from Poland. Come on :)
Hanging curveball for ETL.
Did they find any stone time cards?
Seriously though, this is a fascinating find.
Well, they are the modern stone-age family.
They had a minimal carbon footprint, what with foot power to drive their cars, etc. Ocasio-Cortez and her crowd would approve.
I’d hate to be the poor bastard who had to count 17,000 flint items. I didn’t like doing that with just hundreds of chert, quart and rhyolite points and scrapers. A guy can cut his fingers off if he isn’t careful.
However, finding projectile (spear) points and arrow heads is a great way to describe a production site for a specific culture or tribe.
My work in Pennsylvania helped to show how different tribes travelled down the Susquehanna River (at Bainbridge, Pa. riverside site) and traded. In one instance, I found a black basalt point that was exactly the same dimensions as another basalt point of a totally different style.
Surmised that the same person made both points (pre-colonial, possibly Archaic). Others carried on the work at the site but I never saw their final reports (we should have gotten them in our class the next year but didn’t. I suspect that teacher/pets politics had something to do with what was published and what wasn’t).
Oh well. Found a great, multi-faceted ceremonial quartz(ite) dagger (about 9 inches long or more) just lying on a house mound in the outer area around Tikal. That is definitely in a museum.. Been lying there for about 900 years or more, calling my name. I heard the call.
Archaeology is a fascinating avocation and you can follow it in “Archaeology” magazine among others.
My recent DNA ancestry report says I have 291 Neanderthal variants, which is more than 75% of 23&Me customers. FWIW.
I wonder what they’ll find of ours 60,000 years from now?
Will they be shocked by how primitive we were...or will there even still be humans that weren’t replaced by robots?
I’ve got a couple hundred as well, and some other interesting archaic DNA. No wonder I’m so tired all the time. I get up in the morning, look in the mirror, and I’ve seen younger faces on cash. /stolen

Seemingly, but then they go to the takeout window and get a roasted slab of meat the size of the car, so...
First hit - Tikal Bakery, near Seattle - with photos.
No sign of Neanderthals, but lots of Central Americans.
Who should I call first...
Immigration & Customs?
Or, the archeology department at the University of Washington?
Just an opinion, but it seems that some the “traditional monsters” like trolls and ogres could be easily explained by our ancestors finding Neanderthal skulls and bones in caves and around cliffs in the European mountains.
Bigger than “humans”, large-boned, heavy thick-browed skulls, living underground ? Fits the description.
Piker, I have 294 variants and my son has 297.
Eeeeeeeeyabba dabba doooooooo!
Nice!
