Physicists reverse time using quantum computer
Phys .Org ^ | 13 Mar 2019

Posted on 03/13/2019 10:16:18 AM PDT by DUMBGRUNT

Researchers from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology teamed up with colleagues from the U.S. and Switzerland and returned the state of a quantum computer a fraction of a second into the past.

"This is one in a series of papers on the possibility of violating the second law of thermodynamics. That law is closely related to the notion of the arrow of time that posits the one-way direction of time from the past to the future,"

They turn back time on Antenna TV and METV all the time.

Time Tunnel was a great show!
It beat the ever living snot & pants off Quantum Leap!
(I thought QL had a ludicrous ScjFi premise!)

Same guy produced another SciFi classic, “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea”.

back when TV actually made an effort to entertain you!

When they can turn time back 25-years, let me know... I’ll volunteer to be 60 again...

What a looker!

Now age 87, and still going.

Land of the Giants Lost in Space We had a playground monkey bar set about 20 ft with 2 round domed ends at school. It stood in for the seaview many a day. we used the spinning thing for the flying sub.

At our local playground we had this. The slide was metal back in the 60's and climbing up the outside to the cone proved you were ok to hang with us.

To tell the truth even at the elementary school age I hated Lost in Space. The idea of sending a family, children into space seemed stupid. I refused to watch the show. I thought Land of the Giants was dumb too!

I loved Time Tunnel & Voyage, etc. Though there were times that Voyage was unintentionally funny. We used to keep track how many times in a year Seaman Kowaski & Chief were turned into, eaten or killed by monsters. As I remember Kowaski was killed more times then Kenny of South Park!

Physicists make new announcement =====> Physicists reverse time using quantum computer

It was just the end of daylight savings time.

"It was just the end of daylight savings time."

And here's the team of distinguished and prestigious physicists, who were able to physically turn the sundial around to the proper angle, to complete, as you say, that reversal of time back to Standard Time.

(Don't worry -- they all went to Ivy League schools.)

(Don't worry 2 -- a different team of physicists took care of the "spring forward" time bypass sundial calibrations for this year.)

From the summary, it sounds like they’re calling artificially-induced entropy reduction “time reversal”. So if I take a puzzle apart and put it back together, that’s time reversal, apparently. . .

I find quantumn mechanics fascinating, but found this article too vague to follow. Too much use of metaphor not enough detail.
