That’s why the gushing over Teslas is nonsense. In their actual delivered price class, they’re just another competitor with relative advantages and disadvantages like others.
Jags are cool, but definitely premium product not for everyone.
I own an F-type, but I’m really too old for such a small true sports car. And yes, the electronics wig out, but the vehicle itself has been very reliable.
So, they still use Lucas electrics?
An electric car using Lucas is going to be a new punchline.
40,000 sold in the U.S. last year, one of its top-selling models.
While the traditional CT6 is built in Michigan, the plug-in hybrid variant is a product of Shanghai GM. The company stopped importing the CT6 Plug-In hybrids earlier this year.
Just over 10,000 CT6s were sold last year, with only a small percentage of those being plug-in hybrids.
As an owner of a MGB in a previous lifetime, I remember Lucas VERY well...
After LucasVarity was sold to TRW the Lucas brand name was licensed for its brand equity to Elta Lighting for aftermarket auto parts in the United Kingdom. The Lucas trademark is currently owned by ZF Friedrichshafen, which retained the Elta arrangement.
So is it even the same old company that the owner, Joe Lucas often referred to as the Prince of Darkness, had created? 8>)
Joe Lucas says: “Don’t go out at night!”
Another reason why we have not and will never buy another vehicle manufactured by GM again.

Government Motors = garbage.
Buy a used one for a song
You missed the point. Real jag mechanics are RARE... Jag does not publish or release data or maintenance info including drawings or repair manual AT ALL. Seriously. Lots of people claim, but they screw up more than they repair if it is beyond basic maintenance and the parts are brutally expensive if even available. Can buy a Haynes or Chilton for any car EXCEPT Jaguar.
I’ve done plenty of work on later model v8’s including a couple dozen timing chain jobs but in reality Jaguar went away with the end of the series 3 sedans. Bringing a 73 E back right now that was stored since ‘88. Will be for sale.
Only one trim of one model of Volvo is imported from China.
The timing chain issue on the 4s and 4.2s is just mind-blowing. Folk are not keeping up with maintenance.
Jag electrical problems are why gushing over Teslas is nonsense? That makes no sense. Tesla's build quality has been sketchy for such an expensive vehicle, and if that isn't addressed, the company will dwindle and/or or be sold to another maker. Meanwhile, Tesla's Model 3 is outselling all other EVs, I think combined, and the infrastructure buildout (Tesla charging stations) which were an obvious obstacle to EVs catching on, was an astute move. All EVs I've seen (in fact, all new cars in general) are out of my price range.
