YouTube ^ | March 31, 2016 | CinemaSins

Posted on 04/01/2016 10:02:57 AM PDT by EveningStar

The Martian was one of the biggest hits of 2015, and was nominated for tons of year-end awards. But being as it's set in space and in the near future, we thought it best to bring back Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson to help us separate this movie's sins from its wins.

Tyson should stick to killing chickens.

Here’s a spoiler, if you haven’t seen it. IT’S A MOVIE!

Read the book. As a former Rocket Scientist, I can tell you the book is pretty accurate, but the movie was a movie.

You mean it wasn’t a documentary?

Listen to the audiobook online for free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMqL-KmZZjA The audiobook probably more enjoyable than reading the novel or watching the film.

Only NDGT is aware of this. The rest of us are too scientifically illiterate.

best to bring back Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson

I don't think is best to bring him in. I once respected his passion for science, but the Cosmos reboot and his comments on Christianity were unfortunate.

His Twitter feed is riddled with comments ridiculing Judeo-Christians; he is a shell of man with no center. Putting science over faith is a folly.

Tyson has accomplished the near-impossible feat of making space travel sound boring.

It was a good read. I read a lot of sci-fi and "The Martian" was certainly one of the better hard-science sci-fi books. Good dialog, which was tricky because thru most of the novel the main character is talking with himself!

It was a very good movie. It was a much better book.

It is also FICTION, far more realistic fiction than The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Batman vs. Superman, or any other science fiction/fantasy movies that have come out.

Of course a windstorm on Mars would not have enough force to cause major damage. It is also not possible for people to magically fly, shoot laser beams out of their eyes, travel through time, or do the other things that you see in movies.

“In your face Neil Armstrong!”

That one line is why I won’t sit through The Martian.

I’ll still stick with the far superior ‘Robinson Crusoe On Mars’!

Even if they did have to borrow from the earlier, ‘The War Of The Worlds’ for alien spaceships.

...we thought it best to bring back Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson to help us...

A pox on that fool.

Nothing he has to say, about anything, is of interest to me.

I read the book first and was pretty disappointed in the move. The book was very funny the movie was not. I still can't believe they got the explosion wrong and thought no one would care.

I waited the whole move to hear “duct tape is magic and should be worshipped”. Never did. Best line in the whole book.

Will not watch anything with that douche. He ruined Cosmos. He also believes in Santa Clause, the Ether Bunny, and Global Warming

Spoiler alert: a diverse group of hyphen-Americans, with the help of our wonderful friends in communist China, team up, prevailing on bad old NASA to spend untold billions of dollars to rescue Matt Damon who is running out of crap to grow stuff with.

Tyson is a jacka$$. A bunch of kids raised 85k for him to speak at their screwl. When he came, he was a self absorbed idiot that just wanted to talk about himself and his problems. Very little about astronomy, physics, space.

If want to watch a movie about Mars, I’ll watch ‘Mars Attacks’, at least they blew up Congress.
