Milk is often touted as an elixir for bone strength, but new research suggests that those superpowers may be true only to a certain extent.
A study published in the Oct. 28 issue of The British Medical Journal suggests that consuming three glasses of milk per day may double womens risk of dying in 20 years, compared to drinking less than one glass daily, Medical News Today reported.
Researchers in Sweden found that the sugar D-galactosewhich comprises half of lactoseincreases oxidative stress and inflammation of the body. Experimental evidence in various animal species shows that chronic exposure to galactose can expedite aging and decrease lifespan.

Donsbach is no more a quack than I! Take that back!
He is a chiropractor who was sent to jail for posing as a medical doctor and for prescribing dangerous substances.
Yeah, I can’t spell foreign words well, but dadgummit, I did it! Cured lactose intollerance.
I sumtimes have trouble with English spelling too.
I have been a HUGE milk drinker all my life so I must have miscounted my age (or I am dead)............... Let’s see I was born in 1940 so I am ............... yep..... 74 and I am not dead yet!
These people are screwed up!
Next thing you'll be telling me is that Algonquin J. Calhoun, Esq. has been disbarred. Please, no more bad news today!
Hey, did you ever read "Eat Right 4 Your Type?"

Great science requires duplication by other researchers. Unfortunately, my lab rats bit the dust after the first dose of jalapeños.
I'll try again with larger lab animals like chimps. After all, as your case proves, if something doesn't kill you, it will make you stronger.
BTW, one "L" in "intolerance, dammit. How can I forward your work to the Nobel Committee with these glaring errors? OTOH, I guess if they gave one to Gore and one to Obama .......
“Milk is specifically designed for baby cows. It is not ideal for adult humans.”
I drink aout 4 gallons of whole milk a week and have al my life and it sure hasn’t hurt me and I’m 77.
Not that dairy is all bad. Cheese, yogurt, and cream are good products made from milk that provide health benefits for adults.
Milk and dairy, tree collards, sesame seeds etc. There are many sources of calcium in food, and I agree that they are better than supplements/ground shells.
Yeah, I think that different diets work with different physiologies, but that blood type isn’t the key. (I very much need a (s)low carb diet, but don’t have the blood type for that according to the theory.)
“BTW, one “L” in “intolerance, dammit. How can I forward your work to the Nobel Committee with these glaring errors?”
Not worried about those weinies.
[Grin.]
“tree collards, sesame seeds etc.”
I hope you get enough calcium from them. It would be great if you can.
Reed, that is good moos indeed!
Well, I do try the veggie way now and then, but I confess that I still love milk and cheese. My problem is that when I drink milk or eat cheese, my calcium levels get high.
We have hard water, so I am thinking that we may get extra calcium from that. Anyway, if I eat veggies high in calcium, then I skip milk and vice versa.
