You've probably heard that Cosmos, the new version starring Neil deGrasse Tyson, is causing waves because it's on FOX, and it actually talks about (gasp!) evolution. But this week, Christians upped the ante on crazy by demanding "equal time" for creationists. You know, because they need things to be "balanced." In his typically incisive style, deGrasse explained one reason why that's a silly idea. You dont talk about the spherical Earth with NASA, and then say lets give equal time to the flat Earthers..."

Sounds like a liberal.
"That guy has more than me. You have to gimme some of it!"
Yeah exactly, the whole creation vs evolution debate is twaddle, God doesn’t hate science and science does not disprove God.
He was for "Nuclear Winter" before he was for "Global Warming".
It is entertainment
It is one man’s opinion

“Christians upped the ante on crazy by demanding “equal time” for creationists.” etc...
This is an utter BS article written for propaganda purposes.
There is doubt that the primary goal of the TV networks is not to provide wholesome programming and make profit but rather to corrupt the young.
I can’t find any evidence any Christian has demanded equal time. And yet we are responding to this as an accurate report? Wrong. It’s heavily biased BS and pure propaganda.
None of the major Judeo-Christian religions believe that the idea of evolution is inconsistent with a God Created universe.
This is an article that sites an article that sites one guy...
I agree. Sounds like some made up whine to perhaps evoke sympathy for their cartoon show. The Creationists understand most Media driven shows are going to be atheistic in nature, so this show would be no shock nor drive calls for equal time. If they have concrete examples of this outcry for equal time - I'd like to hear it.
Man did not evolve. Man was created by God in his image.
If you don’t believe the goal of networks is all about making money, you are lost. Same as any other business.
Evolution isn’t consistent with the teachings of God. Evolutionists are poor scientists, since they never follow scientific methods and can’t measure anything outside the box. And evolution is based on poor assumptions, such as a “constant rate of time”, human absolutes, and lack of concrete information about the “Cosmos”.
Science is a man-made exercise to explain things it can’t understand. As far as practical concerns, it’s as useful as a ruler, calculator, or any other tool to make man’s life on earth simpler. Beyond that it’s only as good as humans make it to be. Flawed, myopic, and sinful.
Well put! Those who think they can second guess how God created the universe have a vanity problem.
The SPIRIT of Man was created by God in his image.
From some point after that "Man" managed to screw things up and God in is mercy gave him a human form by which he could return to his creator.
If I were God I would admonish some humans to not take issue with the method God chose and stick to the lifelong task of being good.
I doubt that God is impressed with decoy "issues" and may even be amused by them.
Just sayin'.
Why should it fall on his shoulders or anyone else with a belief system to have to please everyone?
I dont believe the science presented by Cosmos is that inconsistent with God creating the universe and life. God uses the big bang to create the universe. He creates and evolves the earth as a home that will support life. And, He creates life that will evolve.

That’s the same as the idea I developed 60 years ago and I’m now 71. I was raised in the church until then and finally stopped the indoctrination at age 14.
I believe that evolution began with the creation of our world and has continued since. .....I don’t get why “creationists” don’t understand that evolution is the means to the end of the desired result. .......JMO

I’m a creationist. And also a geoscientist. I also used to think like you did until I learned more about evolution. The trouble with “evolution” in the Darwinistic view of things, there are too many transition stages that aren’t evident, and that time does not allow for. Even some (maybe most now?) of the evolutionist’s think in terms of “punctuated equilibrium”. Which in my layman’s terms means “and then something happened”. I know others more well versed in evolution and believe in it can argue their point better than I can mine.
But looking at the mathematical odds and the biology of things it seems to me that things get pretty complex too quickly to be an adaptation over time. So it seems like bad science to me. And now they just discovered that DNA has a duplicate, “hidden” code that provides twice as much info as they thought. (And Francis Crick, co-discoverer of DNA also realized that it didn’t “just happen” as it is too complex. So he believed in pansperma - or the idea that the DNA code was flung out from another civilization in order to preserve the information.)
The other thing about natural evolution in the strict sense, is that it ALL happened by CHANCE. There is no Creator, no God.
Now do I think God could have let things run for a bit, then when certain things were right (temperatures, oxygen, etc.) He could have tweeked things? Killed a bunch of things off after they had laid the ground work for other things? So a “guided evolution”? The evidence to me suggests something like that. But then that really isn’t natural evolution. (Also not very scientific either!)
Oh. By the way. If the creationist’s want to tell their version of it - have them pony up the money, create a show, and convince the station that it will make them money! Just like that guy with the theme park is doing.
