Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday slammed “loud interest groups” and “a tiny minority of shoddy scientists” who challenge claims on climate change, a phenomenon he described as “perhaps the world’s most fearsome weapon of mass destruction.”
In a speech in Jakarta, Kerry said that “97 percent of climate scientists have confirmed that climate change is happening and that human activity is responsible.”
“[President] Obama and I believe very deeply that we do not have time for a meeting anywhere of the Flat Earth Society,” he said. […]
“The science of climate change is leaping out at us like a scene from a 3D movie. It’s warning us; it’s compelling us to act. And let there be no doubt in anybody’s mind that the science is absolutely certain.” …

That 97% figure is such nonsense. They came up with it through some fuzzy math, just like they fudge polar ice quantities. The 97% has been thoroughly debunked, but Kerry and the other clowns keep telling the same lie.
And Kerry chooses to ignore the woolly mammoth in the room.
I think it is important to add, here, that John F. Kerry served honorably and was awarded numerous purple hearts during his month in Vietnam.
Science in climate change has been vastly misrepresented. In the study of weather and climate, the science is most definitely “unsettled”, in that we scarcely understand the parameters for even measuring the phenomena we know exist, much less the ones we have not yet discovered, or fail to take into account.
What kind of ‘science’ degree does John Kerry hold?

It depends on how you ask the questions. Does man have some effect on warming? Perhaps. 0.04% of CO2 is produced by man. 4 one hundredths of 1%. That’s not enough to distinguish it from the natural “noise” in the stats. That 97% needs to be further asked weather man’s contribution to CO2 is in any way significant, and, if so, how significant?

Good point! I’d bet a lot of them have jumped ship since finding out they were lied to. Add in all the other things like missing thermometer stations, poorly-placed stations, the inability to get the original data from the liars, and so on, and so on!
By the looks of his face, I’d say he’s relying on “pure horse sense”.
He’s lying in the phraseology.
Let’s, for the sake of argument, give him the 97% figure. But that’s 97% of respondents, the vast majority of whom have no degree in climatology.
So, when he says “climate scientists”, that’s a lie on its face.
That was last week for me. Our last 6-8 inches was mostly melted, but then again, it is still winter in the plains. There have been worse winters, there have been better winters, but this is the what we have this year. Next year? Maybe warm again. They all seem to think global warming turns on and off.
My local climate experts can’t even correctly predict the 5 day forecast, but somehow their climate experts predicts New York will be under water in 20 years?
