So I read earlier tonight that Buffalo Wild Wings has signs posted on their doors that "ban all guns from these premises". Apparently this is old news, but I am just hearing about it now. Does any FReeper know of a comprehensive list of businesses/chains that have the same policy?
Thanks FReepers!
A list of the PRO second amendment businesses will be a lot shorter and save internet bandwidth.
In fact, outside of the sporting goods industry, you will find few business that will even admit the 2nd amendment exists!
Actually I think most retail businesses don’t think about it much at all. If they did they would be posting signs not permitting weapons.
The one that stands out in my mind is the Cinemark theater chain (made famous in Aurora CO, or perhaps infamous), which states explicitly that no weapons are permitted. It is the only theater chain where I have seen such a sign. Though I do admit my sample size isn’t that large.
I think it’s pretty standard for bars not to allow firearms - at least in Connecticut (kind of why they normally don’t serve alcohol at gun ranges). Buffalo Wild Wings is a bar - so that might be the issue.
Hallmark cards has had an anti-gun stance for a long time.
Oddly enough they are pretty good on family friendly movies etc.
One way:
Ask the owner, which would mean only going to restaurants where you can actually talk to the owner.
A business advertizing that it is gun free. What could possibly go wrong?
That's part of Texas CCW law - you don't carry into an establishment that makes more than 50% of their income from the consumption of alcohol.
Meaning I can carry into a liqueur store, but not into a bar.
When I was stationed at Hood 40 years ago the honky tonks in the surrounding areas had “check your gun” signs at the doors. It worked OK I guess. Saw and took part in a few bar fights but never saw a shot fired. Those were the days.:-)
The entire Mall of America is posted at the exterior entrances. What they don’t know won’t hurt them. Everyone
I know, carries whenever they go there.

********
God Bless Texas...because some do.
DNC
Mc Donalds? If I remember right...
Open carry, or concealed = A 'ok in VA so long as the owner hasn't posted a sign and you don't drink ANY alcohol while carrying.

,
Texas law prescribes the language, font size, etc. of a sign businesses are to post if they wish to exclude CHL holders. Any stock signs that say “No Guns” I interpret to mean that they don’t sell them.
No bars in Texas allow carry. It’s against state law. You cannot carry in any establishment that earns more than 51% of it’s revenue from booze, and if an establishment meets that criteria, by law, it must post the 51% sign.
Plenty of restaurants that serve alcohol allow carry, but bars by their very nature, cannot.
Some states require such signs and others it is the law if over 51% of the business’s income from alcohol consumed ON THE PREMISES.
Thus carry in a liquor store is legal yet beer and wings joint such as BWW’s and Hooters etc must ban carry per said states BS gun laws.
May not be the owners or companies polices at all....
Just saying. All is not what it appears as to pro or con on that issue.
My experience / opinion here in Texas with concealed carry....
Stay safe !
In PA, one can drink in bars while carrying, and guess what? No shootouts ever occur because of it.
in good old Hoosierland, we can carry anywhere that it is not expressly forbidden.
Was just discussing this at my local watering hole. The bartender told me she never worries about much because she knows there at least 4-6 guys carrying at any time on a busy night.
and that many more with something in their vehicle(where mine stay)
