Who was the last "coolest man in America"?
Fee Republic ^ | 1/29/2011 | Krankor

There was a time, maybe thirty or forty years ago, before cable TV and cell phones, where one man could be so impressive in his accomplishments and force of personality, he would almost universally be recognized as the coolest man in America. His field could range from medicine, science, sports, politics or entertainment. Since the advent of the internet, though, this is no longer possible. Who, in your opinion, was the last "coolest man in America"?

Steve Fossett. No acting or pretending, just a cool American guy doing what many of us can only dream of doing ;-) Mountain climbing, airplanes, gliders and even blimps, plus boats. Set records at nearly everything he did. As near as I can tell, he was actually even a nice guy.

His accomplishments are definitely worth reviewing.

I expect you think it’s Lee Marvin (read your posts;)

It is and will always be ELVIS PRESLEY. He changed music forever and was not a product of Hollywood, Government Schools or the Mob.

He had a God given talent - loved his parents and his God.

I’ll give you a clue. He’s still alive although no longer looked on with such reverence.
