...Fieri's meteoric ascent is impressive, but it also makes him one of the culinary world's most polarizing figures. For as many fans as Fieri earnsDora Long, the creator of Fieri's biggest fan site, says she gets hundreds of emails a weekhe draws equal detractors. Like Rachael Ray or Emeril Lagasse, Fieri is a food personality who has rapidly outgrown the food, walking the narrow line between technique and celebrity that makes so many in the industry nervous. His recipes have names like No Can Beato This Taquito, and Mac-Daddi-Roni Salad, and he often effuses about the greasy meals he eats on Diners, Drive-Ins and Drives with his mouth full of nachos or chili dogsspirited gluttony as entertainment.
The ire from the industry is palpable: At a recent panel at the New York Wine& Food Festival, star chefs David Chang and Anthony Bourdain sat down to call bull---- on several aspects of the food world, and singled out Fieri as the enemy...

LOL.
That reminds me of a favorite sandwich of a friend of mine when we were kids:
Replace the bacon with a slice of fried “baloney”, and top it with another slice of bread slathered with mayo or Miracle Whip.
I took a bite once. It’s an acquired taste fer shur!
It’s his family name. If he wants to pronounce it the way they did in the old country, I fail to see the problem.
CaptRon-San, Domo Arigato Gozaimasu.
I get that, but it seems that most of the comments on sites like the one linked here are critical of things like his glasses, band, hair, or the fact he actually eats the food on camera (oh the horror!).
That seems like most of the complaints are on a level that is based upon smugness or the fact that he is appealing to the common person as opposed to the executive chef at La Poop restauraunt in NYC.
I have like 3 volumes for the CIA I got from some Cooking club thing that I had to finally tell to stop sending me if I didn’t sene the card back. They did. But they are like the textbooks for the CIA. Great recipes and great tips.
I agree, i don't come from the crowd that thinks quantity equals quality. I don't begin to understand how little pieces of meat ontop of baby food could possiblly pass as a meal.
I've visited 2 of Guys show spots, and both were excllent.

Thanks. I think.
And then there's Sandra.
A *lot* of people like peanut butter with mayo. A lot of fried bologna is made here in central virginia, too, I can tell you.
Both of those are OK but I'm more of a purist. I like it best just plain with raspberry preserves. Unimaginative and DELICIOUS!
Could it be that some people just don’t like him?
It means thank you very much in Japanese.
I got part of it.
You are most welcome.
Thank you.
If anyone has newsgroup access, check out the foodnetwork group. It's mostly about Sandra.
RW, I laughed 'til I cried! LOL.
That's not to mention the price of the meal...now, THAT'S pretentious. LOL.
ES, thanks so much for posting this thread. I respect the opinions of everyone here, and I love the laughs from some of the posts. Thanks y'all. : )
I’ve had my share of expensive disappointing “gourmet” meals over the years. I too prefer “real” food.
