'Chemotherapy killed Patrick Swayze'

Actress Suzanne Somers, who is herself a cancer survivor, thinks that chemotherapy has killed Patrick Swayze.

"They took a beautiful man" and "put poison in his body," the New York Post quoted her as saying.

Somers, who has a book about cancer coming out next month, said: "Why couldn''t they have built him up nutritionally and gotten rid of the toxins? . . . I hate to be this controversial . . . but I have to speak out."

The only cure for cancer is to scare the demon out.

You lower the ph raised ph creates an extremely acid body which cancer thrives on. A low ph kills the cancer. Our bodies suffer greatly with a high ph...western diet. Also, no sugar at all, cancer also thrives on sugar.

With a low ph you'll find much fewer aliments...low ph will keep the blood pressure at low levels. One way to lower the ph of course is food along with taking potassium bicarbonate.

It is, afterall, the treatment of last resort. Fact: Chemo has cured and/or put cancer in remission for a lot of people. Can we agree on that at least?

But, as with any drug or medical procedure there are negative side effects and/or results. There is not the slightest doubt in my mind that chemo has ultimately killed people or made them sicker. One thing’s sure, if we’re talking about pathological cancers, the person would have died because of the cancer at some point anyway.

I understand your concern from a family member point of view, but where are you going with this? A medical procedure or drug that MAY be responsible for some fraction of a percent deaths, out of millions who underwent the procedure or took the drug, should not be denied the 99.9% of people it would help.

What a ditz. The chemo didn’t kill him. The cancer killed him. My mom did chemo and radiation in 2006 - lung cancer. She’s still going strong. She’s frail but it’s because she won’t eat (she’s anorexic)and just doesn’t get it. If she hadn’t done the chemo, who knows?

Exactly. Farrah Fawcett did all sorts of “treatments” and she succumbed. Cancer is a hideous disease. People like to believe in their fantasies. Nutrition is important but cancer is still cancer. I’ve come to the conclusion that most people don’t understand exactly what cancer IS and how it works. Once they get “that,” maybe they will have better understanding.

Ah, our first glimpse of the family doctor in Obama's brother's village.

No need for nationalized medicine there....just some chicken entrails and elephant dung.

Bravo. She is an idiot alright and I’m sure Swayze’s family loves hearing this crap.

None of you know anything about the details of Swayze’s cancer treatment. The man could afford the best advice and doctors. And I think Swayze was a reasonably intelligent person.

In the absense of any other credible information I’m more inclined to believe everything that could be done for him was done. Aggressive pancreatic cancer has almost a 100% kill rate. And it kills relatively quickly.

I’ve survived two rounds of chemotherapy, and while it was not at all pleasant, and did take a big chunk out of my life, I am alive right now because of it. I have no doubt I would have died years ago had I refused either round of chemo.

Like any other medical procedure, the effectiveness of the treatment depends a great deal on the attitude of the patient. Yah, I had a bunch of miserable days but I was fortunate to have a loving family who helped support me and get me through the bad spells. I also had the very best medical care available along with an Insurance provider who really was concerned about getting me the care I needed

Suzanne Somers has never been the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, and she would do well to avoid commenting about things she obviously has no understanding of.

Natural companies and clinics WAY oversell their wares- and htis is irresponsible, and htey are preying on peopel who are sick and desperate, and htey ARE keeping info fro mthem when sellign hteir wares...

It SO goes both ways. And one cancer patient is worth far more money to the medical establishment than to the CAM establishment because of insurance - about $400K - $1.3 mil PER patient.

You really think they are trying to cure cancer?

“BTW, my blood type changed from O+ to O-!”

Do you know why?

My donor's blood type was O-.

An interesting part of my treatment was the chart on my door, that showed all the separate parts of my blood. Red cell counts, white cell counts, platelets, etc.

Each day I would get blood work and they would post the individual levels of each. The "goal" was to have all of the levels bottom out at ZERO!

And then when I got to that point, I received 3 days of Cytoxin (chemo) to kill anything remaining (except me).

After that, they brought in a bag of what looked like blood with lots of grey-white 'floaties' in it. My new bone marrow!

They connected it to my "Hickman catheter" that fed directly into a major artery near the heart, and it was a blood transfusion.

The bone marrow just found it's way to where it belonged, took hold and began to grow!

God sure blessed me!!! To this day I still can't believe such a thing is possible! But here I am, living proof!

Thank you Lord!!!

Mort..
My knowledge is as such.
Cancer cells attack the bodies weak cells first. Wherever they happen to live in your body. We all have cancer cells but it takes something to make them pop.

Cigarette smoking is not good for you. Period. Read the warning label.
I’ve had my share of experience smoking which I haven’t done for 15 years...but I still fear the damage it may have done. I’ve had more than 4 people in my immediate family die of various forms of cancer. Lung, brain, stomach, liver. All of them had a few things in common. life long cigarette smoking, lack of regular exercise and diets heavy in processed foods, alcohol and sugar. My brothers “lung” cancer never appeared on a lung xray until 2 weeks before his death. It mostly attached itself to his blood, wreaking havoc. Funny, the doctors always said my brother had beautiful pink lungs...even up to a year prior to his death and they were amazed because he smoked like a chimmney his whole life.

If an FRoncologist is onboard today - please correct me if I’m wrong in my simplistic views about how cancer cells work.

Let the man rest in peace. I know it helps some, hurts others....I just don’t think we know.

My mother fought the disease for nearly a year, had chemo...it helped at first, then a recurrence...and the cancer spread.

Hard to say.

all things in moderation me thinks. They are already dealing with people who have potentially fatal illnesses and conditions that are in a weakened state. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it may rush along an already weakened state—either way it is a last ditch effort at reversing or keeping at bay a condition that is killing the victim. I think we all have to keep that in mind when assessing these last ditch effort treatments. It also comes down to quality of life issues and how much positive life changes can reverse or keep at bay a condition. In Patrick Swayze’s case it was already bad and getting worse. It was most likely inevitable—his passing and soon.

Chemo can cure you if it doesn't kill you. My mother-in-law was recently diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. She had some palliative radiation therapy, but the medical oncologist recommended against chemo because he felt it would impair her already weak immune system and probably shorten her life.

If I had cancer I would definitely go for chemo and/or radiation provided my prognosis justified it.

I have a friend whose husband has cancer, which is in remission right now, he was getting heavy doses of chemo and was dying fast. She stopped the treatment and took him to a doctor in Nevada who then consulted with Another Doctor in Germany. They laid out a much reduced type of chemo, one they said was tailored to the type of cancer he had a only a small fraction of what he had been receiving before. The treatment lasted about 3 months and he is, for all intents and purposes, cured. The doc in Nevada, whose name I can't recall, has a very high success rate.

My friends husband lost 30 lbs in about 3 weeks on regular Chemo and he was on his last legs. The doc in Nevada built him up first before he would treat him.

Since that incident I have had serious doubts about Chemo, I did before but now am convinced it kills more than it helps.

Swayze was diagnose with 4th stage pancreatic cancer. I am amazing that he lived 2 years with it, The normal life expediency is 6 months or less.

That being said chemo is very depleting on anyone. One of my students died near the end of the first rounds of treatment. I home tutored her the last three months of her life.

The tumor was shrinking but she knew exactly what to expect. The first few days were fine, but by the end of the week the pains in her digestives system were very bad.

I'm very glad your son is doing so well.

It doesn't change my opinion of chemo one way or another.
It also has nothing to do with my own decison to not have chemo if I have cancer.
