This summer, how would you like to lean back in your lawn chair and toss back a brew made from what may be the worlds oldest recipe for beer? Called Chateau Jiahu, this blend of rice, honey and fruit was intoxicating Chinese villagers 9,000 years agolong before grape wine had its start in Mesopotamia.
University of Pennsylvania molecular archaeologist Patrick McGovern first described the beverage in 2005 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences based on chemical traces from pottery in the Neolithic village of Jiahu in Northern China. Soon after, McGovern called on Sam Calagione at the Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, Del., to do the ancient recipe justice. Later this month, you can give it a try when a new batch hits shelves across the country. The Beer Babe blog was impressed, writing that it is very smooth, and not overly sweet.

Warm zima??
How bout I mix you up a shot of listerine with 3 shots of water and two teaspoons of baking soda and a half teaspoon of karo syrup...mix it up real good, nuke it in the microwave on high for ten seconds?
How would that do ya?
Doesn't matter ~ German beer is made with gluten containing materials!
No doubt “they” fixed the recipe ~ used to be a darned good chance of hitting on a “skunk beer” ~ particularly if you picked up a 6 pack at the Drug Fair.
Do I have to pay extra?
parsy, the penurious
I got hooked on rolling rock back in the early nineties when I spent a weekend on south bass island in lake erie for their “new years eve” celebration they have every fall.
I could be wrong, but I think in america if it contains refined sugar, they hafta call it “malt liquor”
No, just my usual rate.
Now just wait a darn minute! I may have a little short term memory loss but I ain’t never been to a drug fair! I went to a gun show, once, and a poetry reading at this wierd used book store, but I ain’t never been to a drug fair.
Parsy, who didn’t even know the had drug fairs.
I discovered it at a local barbecue restaurant. Just has a good taste. I also like that mex beer with the blue agave juice. cant recall the name right now. a little intoxicated. Texacommatal or something like that. dang I am having a senior moment.
parsy, who’s back is out and is drinking
Wow. I wish my back could go out on the town for drinks once in awhile.
I think I’m home, therefore I am.
parsy, who is trying to get to the feeling no pain place.
That place is called oblivion.
You can either do it the blue collar way that requires NO doctors or pharmacists, or you can do it the white collar way that does require doctors and pharmacists...or you can do it the rush limbaugh way and get a mexican maid to make a run for the border for ya.

The “skunk” is caused by light. Whenever a beer is bottled in clear glass or other colors not as dark as plain brown, you run the risk of “light struck” beer...aka skunky beer.
I think you can make beer immune to light-struck effects by adding a little ascorbic acid(vitamin C). Seriously. That’s from memory though so don’t quote me on it.
Heck, Im going to that place called bed. Drink one last beer. See if my durn back will quit hurting.
watch some Fox news.
parsy, who don’t drink often.

Thanks potlatch

I used to be able to drink Bud
Bud is made from rice - it started giving me headaches after a 2nd Bud
Corona - Beck’s - Guinness - Henieken now
No headaches
Funny, huh, rice is supposed to be easy on the stomach, even for dogs when they are sick.
Didn’t work for the head though. Just thought it would interest you.
Percocet or percodan.
Problem with it is that it works first on the extremities. You gotta take an awful lot of it to make the torso quit hurting. By that time you really are in oblivion...which is about a mile and a half beyond loo-loo land.

It is an interesting thread
I actually love rice
But not in my beer!
[It is an interesting thread]
That’s good then.
I couldn’t find many tonight.
