There are some really annoying liberal trolls on Free Republic who have survived for months and years without being banned. Why is Free Republic allowing them to stay? We have enough liberalism and left wing lunacy on 90% of the media and we do not need this crap on this forum.
It is not difficult to spot these trolls. A quick review of their posting history will prove without any shadow of doubt that they are liberal trolls. Some of them try to mask it but they cannot fool the vast majority of us.
There are plenty of left wing forums which will welcome them that if they are not already registered and active members there.
It is time to get rid of them.
Hit the abuse bottom on them and hit it often.
I think the point is that liberals and dissenters are more than welcome here if they engage in honest debate. However if they are just making trouble and putting on nasty deceptive stuff. Then they are a TROLL.
And trolls must be ZOTTED!!!
lol
LOL!
What you don’t get is that FR is a DISCUSSION board. To have a discussion it helps to have differing viewpoints. Without somebody to argue with, the threads can turn into “yeah, I agree too!” ditto-fests.
“I thought all the Rudy fans were gone already”
“Hit the abuse bottom on them and hit it often.”

JV, who’s going to be left when you are granted all your purge demands? You did your best, with posts like this one, to get rid of most of the anti-illegal alien posters a few years ago, the Rudy worshipers are gone....not much left, unless you’re looking for an echo chamber.
“Abuse Bottom”.....Freudian slip?
JV, you’re too funny.
If FR management’s policies displease you, you can always find another place in cyberspace to post.
That is another one :)
Same here, plus I've been said to exhibit trollish behavior, because I don't usually comment when posting an article.
Save MurryMom!
They are big donors.
We mod with a lighter hand than many charge us with. It takes a lot to push us over the top for many reasons. One, we may be gathering evidence to make absolutely sure. Two, sometimes when other FReepers call them out on their liberalness, it strengthens their arguments. Three, sometimes it is hard to tell when someone is being factious. Four, sometimes we like to see them squirm. And finally, sometimes we just happen to overlook them. We are only human (that we let you know...)
I disagree.
Banning is a DU tactic.
If we really are trying to win on the strength of our ideas, we should be able to beat them into submission with our reason and intellect.
I agree with you. Sometimes they are very obvious, other times it’s hard to tell if they’re trolls or just your run of the mill nasty person. We have a few of those too. :)
I have never been called out, but I sometimes think that some of the homosexual threads go way over the line, and even though I believe personally that homosexuality is a sin, I do not believe in gay bashing. Many of us, on this board, consider ourselves to conservative, but we refuse to denounce our friends or family that may be gay.
I also know of a few atheists on this board, should they be cut off because they aren't Christians? What about someone who doesn't believe in the death penalty? Are they not conservative?
I, personally think that the broader the board, the more enlightened we all become. So by all means, continue to challenge those you don't agree with, who knows maybe you will change their minds.
Depends on what you mean by “liberal troll”. I’ve been called one a time or two myself ...
... for not believing this economy is as bad as the great depression;
... for not supporting secession or armed revolt;
... for supporting legal immigration;
... for not believing the country is doomed;
... for believing that non-whites can be convinced to vote for a conservative;
... for being optimistic when pessimism reigns.
The term “liberal troll” is thrown around pretty haphazardly around here — as everyone seems to believe that their opinions are the definition of “conservative”.
SnakeDoc
Maybe not, but some people enjoy it.
;o)
Nah.
Unfortunately that's how we lost many thoughtful serious posters. One of the trolls' tactics is exactly what you suggest.
A better solution: if it talks like a duck, writes like a duck and thinks like a duck, I simply ignore them. Works like a charm, after they spend days talking to themselves, or posting 2-reply articles.
Also, some of the mods also are not the sharpest tacks on the board...
