Here is the very first picture of Russell Crowe in Robin Hood, the upcoming flick which reunites the 45-year-old Gladiator star with director Ridley Scott. He doesnt have the old Robin Hood tights, producer Brian Grazer tells USA Today of the bandits updated wardrobe. Hes got armor. Hes very medieval. He looks, if anything, more like he did in Gladiator than anything were used to seeing with Robin Hood.
Oddly, its a metaphor for today, Grazer adds. Hes trying to create equality in a world where there are a lot of injustices. Hes a crusader for the people, trying to reclaim some of the ill-gotten gains of the wealthy. Thats a universal theme.
Robin Hood is set for a 2010 release and also stars Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian.
Sweet, love Cate Blanchett. Will see.
Blanchett will probably be great as Marian, nice to see her getting a big check.
I appreciate the clarification but Grazer said “wealthy.” And when people call others wealthy, they mean private citizens and not the government.
Hes a crusader for the people, trying to reclaim some of the ill-gotten gains of the wealthy. Thats a universal theme. And how did you acquire your wealth, Mr. Grazer?”
Grew up rich spoiled and went to the best schools in LA, then to USC, then into Hollywood - divorced several times a real Ahole Hollywood Weasel...you know, a real hard worker...
So will Bryan Adams do the soundtrack for this one as well? or will we be getting the T.I.-Beyonce treatment with a touch of Timberlake and Winehouse?
If today were then, Robin would be accosting Chris Dodd or Nancy Pelosi and taking all they possessed and scattering it among the homeless in some flyover town.
The concept of someone robbing one of the Criminal rats.....Murtha for instance is a pleasant fantasy. Just that action would be hailed as wonderful by the American people as they become aware of the Democrat Criminal Enterprise.
Zorro was just such a man. Perhaps some scion of an old Angeleno family will rise up and bring the current mayor et al to justice. it would be a great movie.....Zorro 21st Century
And in other news, General Francisco Franco is still dead.
What is it with directors? Don't they watch movies? Every one of them seems compelled to say "My Robin Hood will not be wearing tights." Tights have not been the Robin Hood fashion for a generation now.

That 2nd link on Longbows is terrific!
Ponder that a skilled archer could launch 20 arrows a minute, on a bow with a 100-120# draw weight!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!
He looks too old to be Robin and robbin’.
Okay, fine, whatever ;-) IMHO there’s only ONE Robin Hood and that’s Errol Flynn. The rest are posers ... just as there’s only one Bond (Sean Connery).
As for Maid Marion, she made the mistake of hooking up with Robin and ultimately died a virgin at the age of 47............
"And that is the rest of the story".......Good Day!
My prayers have been answered! Hallelujah!
Now if only he’d make another, say, twenty sequels to “Master and Commander” (one of my favorite movies, right up there with the Lord of the Rings), my cup would run over.
I love this man. Too bad he is such a jerk in real life.
Alan Rickman was a wonderful Sheriff--he's a fantastic bad guy and a fine comedian, as well as a perfectly splendid serious actor. But he was not ultimately convincing as a danger to Maid Marian. I first realized Rickman had to be gay when I saw in the last scenes of Robin Hood that he didn't have a clue how to go about raping a woman. Unfamiliar territory, you know?
NOT GUILTY!!!!
<he was BADAS* as the Gladiator,
And a good looking BADAS* at that!
I will be happy to see Mr. Crowe as Robin Hood, whatever he’s wearing.
