Here is the very first picture of Russell Crowe in Robin Hood, the upcoming flick which reunites the 45-year-old Gladiator star with director Ridley Scott.
He doesnt have the old Robin Hood tights, producer Brian Grazer tells USA Today of the bandits updated wardrobe. Hes got armor. Hes very medieval. He looks, if anything, more like he did in Gladiator than anything were used to seeing with Robin Hood.
Oddly, its a metaphor for today, Grazer adds. Hes trying to create equality in a world where there are a lot of injustices. Hes a crusader for the people, trying to reclaim some of the ill-gotten gains of the wealthy. Thats a universal theme.
Robin Hood is set for a 2010 release and also stars Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian.

Is that an English longbow, or a child’s model?
I think they were over 6’ long and had over a 100# pull weight. It took years of training to be able to shoot them well.

...reclaim some of the ill-gotten gains of the wealthy. If I remember my Robin Hood correctly, he robbed the tax collectors and returned the "taxes" to the people from whom they were originally taken.

Yep. Robin Hood didn't steal from private citizens, he stole from the government.

It won’t be the same without the tights. And the aluminum swords.

this doesn’t look like the Kevin Costner version at all!

.......he stole from the government. .....
Not exactly. To be correct, he reclaimed the stolen property of the people and returned it to them.
The same is true of the great American Zorro
