A majority of voters (52%) favor John McCain’s plan for the federal government to buy up distressed mortgages and refinance them so homeowners can stay in their homes, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Thirty-five percent (35%) oppose the plan.

Democrats like McCain’s plan more than Republicans, even though Barack Obama opposes it. Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Democratic voters think it’s a good idea, compared to 47% of Republicans – and 49% of unaffiliated voters.

Seventy percent (70%) of African-American voters favor McCain’s plan, as do 50% of white voters.

P.S....I'm not a frequent poster.. so pardon any posting "faux pas" *S*

“Seventy percent (70%) of African-American voters favor McCain’s plan, as do 50% of white voters. “

Oh that is going to hurt.

“Seventy percent (70%) of African-American voters favor McCain’s plan, as do 50% of white voters. “

—and out of that 50% mccain may have picked up the votes of 0.0001% of them.

Naturally they’er in favor. They’re the ones who will be bailed out while the guy down the street keeps paying the high interest on a home that’s worth half of what he owes.

Sometimes I wonder how much Sarah personally agrees with McCain on a lot of issues. She hesitated a bit when asked about support cap and trade actions on industries. She also disagrees with him on ANWR. She also was not happy about the pullout of the campaign from MI. I know she’s not going to make a big deal of them, because as the running mate, she has to be the “good soldier,” but I believe some of his stances must get under her skin privately.

Wake me up on election day. Either way it appears the Republic loses on November 5th. Killed by Democrats, aided and abetted by Republicans — we don’t stand a chance this cycle.

Maybe the next, with fresh conservative leaders waiting in the wings. If Premier Obama hasn’t signed an Executive Order arresting all Conservatives and exiling them to Pockistan.

Oh that is going to hurt.

This will not help McCain. The blacks are not going to abandon the One because McCain promises to help them with their mortgage - race is the primary factor for them, and I am sure they expect to get even more goodies from the One after he is elected.

What it will do is discourage fiscal conservatives, especially after his campaign made it clear that they intend to buy these mortgages at face value (bailing out the reckless lender) and then write off the loss in value (bailing out the reckless borrower), sticking the taxpayers with the tab.

The bailout package is already rewarding recklessnes, isn’t it?

Might as as well reward reckless joe-six pack instead of the reckless fatcats on Wall Street?

Or am I going wrong here?

I forget who exactly was doing the interview, but somebody said to McCain “You understand why the people who have kept paying their mortgages are opposed...” and McCain answers something like “Listen, everybody benefits, because if your neighbors home goes down in value then yours does too, so by bailing out your neighbor, it’s good for you”.

Why the hell doesn’t everybody just stop paying? Then the gov could buy them all at a much, much higher price and we’d all be rich.

What a freakin con job! Nobody else paid my mortgage! Nobody else renegotiated my loan better!

So much for equal protection under the law...
