It's Time To Part Company (Maybe Walter Williams is right)
Jewish World Review ^ | 9/13/00 | Dr. Walter Williams (Rush's occasional fill-in)

Like a marriage that has gone bad, I believe there are enough irreconcilable differences between those who want to control and those want to be left alone that divorce is the only peaceable alternative. Just as in a marriage, where vows are broken, our human rights protections guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution have been grossly violated by a government instituted to protect them. Americans who are responsible for and support constitutional abrogation have no intention of mending their ways.

While this is an older article, with McCain as the repiblican nominee and two socialists on the other side, perhaps Dr. Williams' article has more relevancy.

Here's another link in case this one doesn't work

Unfortunately that question was answered bloodily in 1861-1865. Those who want to be left alone will be kept in the marriage by force of arms by those who want to control.

And thus the government my ancestors vivified by delegation of their own sovereignty so that they may partake of the blessings of liberty is now a Leviathan, a predatory beast that exists more for its own benefit than for the benefit of those from whom it extracts taxes.

Indeed, supporters of this form of government even talk in the open media about the net income government “gets” from illegal immigrants, as if we should decide this issue based on our collective ability to plunder them as well.

I don’t think it’s black and white enough to separate it—we’d just have people fighting over various issues within 2 bodies instead of one. Most of my Republican friends, for example, don’t agree with the currently articulated Republican “platform,” for example (nor do I) and my Democrat friends also don’t agree. We have extreme poles, but the majority of the people are closer to the middle than the poles.

FR does attract some people who embrace the more politically extreme elements of the Republican platform, but if you look at how many people voted for Ron Paul (actually a Libertarian), McCain, and others in the primaries, it would appear Republicans tend to be more moderate than not. We have to ask who the actual RINOs are? And not all Republicans are Christians or Jews or even religious (nor are all Freepers), although some religious people are very vocal, and those who aren’t usually stay quiet because it’s not politically correct to say so!

The November 2008 choice will be between McCain and Clinton or McCain and Obama.

Not McCain and YOU.

Not McCain and ME.

And sure as h*ll not McCain and whoever you wanted to get the nomination.

Can we just get on with things? Elections are not wish lists. They are choices and in America on presidential general elections they are choices between TWO people.

I cried the day Ronald Reagan past away. But he ain’t coming back and he won’t be on the ballot.

So, while McCain is certainly not everything I wished he was and there are several problem areas that he has failed us on. The fact is, he is head and shoulders above ANYTHING the democrats have to offer.

There are hundreds of reasons to vote for McCain and push him as opposed to the other candidate. Here are a few:
McCain will tax less...
McCain will hold the line on terror better...
McCain will do better on borders...
McCain doesn’t hate the military...
McCain will do more to protect the unborn...
McCain will spend less...
McCain will have more respect from foreign leaders both friend and foe...
McCain will do more to keep the death tax suspended...
McCain has a more attractive spouse...
McCain will hold the line on communist expansion in South America better...
McCain is LESS succored in re: global warming...
McCain will appoint better judges...
McCain will give more respect to the right to keep and bear arms...
McCain will give more respect to free speech...

Mr. Williams is inviting me to commit treason.

This is lunacy; I will not partake in it. Taking up arms when you don’t get your way on economic policy is self-destructive.

“extreme elements of the Republican platform”

I’m a bit confused, could you name these elements?

There has been continuance, change and new ideas up until quite recently. Nothing stopped in 1865. I would have to research to get an accurate grasp on the current status.

We need to split this country. On one side, the abortion loving, non traditional marriage loving, God hating, jihadi loving, tax loving, criminal loving bleeding heart liberals.
On the other side the normal people who want to live away from the mentally disturbed.

So, while McCain is certainly not everything I wished he was and there are several problem areas that he has failed us on. The fact is, he is head and shoulders above ANYTHING the democrats have to offer.

Here is McCain's Recent History over the last 7 years:

1. Gang of Fourteen (Kept some of President Bush’s best judges from being presented for a vote)
2. McCain-Fiengold (Assault on Free Speech and Pro-Life groups and Gun-rights groups)
3. McCain-Kennedy (Amnesty for criminal Illegal Aliens)
4. McCain-Lieberman (50 cents a gallon tax)
5. Total support for global warming scam, including carbo cap and trade system.
6. Support for embryonic stem cell research (Murder of unborn babies).
7. Leaked top-secret information concerning CIA prisons in Europe
8. Wants to close Gitmo and give Terrorists access to our legal system.
9. F grade from Gun-Owners of America.
10. C- grade from NRA.
11. 60% score from American Conservative Union in 2006
12. Wants to bail out sub-prime losers (many of which are either illegal aliens or lied on thier applications) with US tax money.
13. Voted against President Bush’s tax cuts (called them tax-cuts for the rich)
14. Flirted with the idea of crossing over to the Dems in 2004.

Now you be the judge as to whether or not his principles match up enough with your principles and whether or not you can vote for him!

What you might want to add into your calculation is if you are willing to destroy the conservative nature of the GOP, the GOP itself, and more than likely, hasten the destruction of our nation.

There are two probably scenarios that will play out during the next four years:

1. A democrat is elected President and the GOP in both the House and Senate finally find their backbone and fight all things socialist that the Democrats would like to push through congress. This will guarantee a stalemate and the success of the agenda of the Left will be severly limited.

2. Our RINO McCain is elected and the benefit, as perceived by our congressmen/congresswomen, of standing up against socialist measures will be severely diminished as John McCain will be pushing most of the same socialist/liberal agenda including Global Warming (Kyoto II), Cap and Trade system, Illegal Alien Amnesty, some form of socialized health care where you and I are footing the bill for others, etc.

Just by McCain granting Amnesty, the GOP will be relegated to minority status for decades to come. The impact will be two-fold: first, 20-30 million+ illegal aliens who vote 70% for Democrats will be immediately dumped into the American Electorate thereby erasing the thin margins between Democrat and Republican voters. Secondly, by ignoring the strongly held principles of the base of the GOP, conservatives, he will have driven millions of conservatives from the party and also dis-engaged millions more.

Choose wisely my friend, your future depends on this choice.

Mr. Williams is inviting me to commit treason.

Treason? Against what? Certainly not against an organization that holds the Constitution and the average citizen in disdain. The imposters in Washington are an illegitimate body that resembles nothing of the government designed to protect our rights. Our founding fathers threw off the shackles of a tyrannical government and we may be called to do the same!

FR does attract some people who embrace the more politically extreme elements of the Republican platform

Apparently you are confused about what FreeRepublic is all about!

Just a friendly reminder here is what the founder and owner of this site has declared the purpose of this site is all about:

Statement by the founder of Free Republic:

In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side. Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we (myself and those whom I'm trying to attract to FR) support the strategy of taking the fight to the enemy as opposed to allowing the enemy the luxury of conducting their attacks on us at home on their terms and on their schedule.

Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security. We support our military, our troops and our Commander-in-Chief and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency. We do not believe in surrendering to the terrorists as France, Germany, Russia and Spain have done and as Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton and the Democrats, et al, are proposing.

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

Free Republic is private property. It is not a government project, nor is it funded by government or taxpayer money. We are not a publicly owned entity nor are we an IRS tax-free non-profit organization. We pay all applicable taxes on our income. We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. We sell no merchandise, product or service, and we offer no subscriptions or paid memberships. We accept no paid advertising or promotions. We are funded solely by donations (non tax deductible gifts) from our readers and participants.

We aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and freedom of association, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.

Our God-given liberty and freedoms are not negotiable.

May God bless and protect our men and women in uniform fighting for our freedom and may God continue to bless America.

Jim Robinson

I grow weary of people saying this could/should never happen, talk about blinders. Your stats are dead-on and the facade of a heavily leveraged debt ridden economy are becoming apparent daily. This will happen at some point, whether in my generation I'm not sure, but certainly it will happen.

I don't think Mr. Williams is advocating “taking up arms”. Rather, he was advocating a peaceful secession of a few states and then economic partnership. If there were any “taking up of arms”, it would be by the forces seeking to stop a peaceful secession.

Please do, the more often the better.

Seems the McCainiacs would like to rewrite history and have us forget what a turd of a candidate he is.

If you find something to add to the list, please freepmail me with the updates.

When I joined the military I swore an oath to “defend the Constitution against enemies both foreign and domestic”. That oath didn’t expire when I left the service. John McCain, the democrats, and the RINOs are enemies of the US Constitution. Their lust for power and control over the masses continue to shred the Constitution daily. How much longer will people like you vote for the lesser of two evils with each choice becoming a little more evil than the last until there is nothing left but evil?

I signed up because I’m for killing the bad guys and creating economic prosperity.

I want nothing to do with Tim McVeigh “the enemy is us” BS. I get enough self-hatred from Hollywood and the Democrats.

We will always be picking between the lesser of socialists because the education system has completely collapsed. When freedom of speech is porn and flag burning, and giving money to a political candidate isn't, then we are in sorry shape. I don't understand why someone like Williams isn't in front of the court every day bringing up these points. The problem there is a “conservative” court disagrees with him. Even if he completely humiliated the SCOTUS and proved Social Security is illegal, they wouldn't ban it. We either have war or collapse with the rest of the socialists. There will be no separation peacefully.

My money is on collapse. We won't risk another civil war. We are too stubborn to survive. We will slide into European like oblivion and finally fall to something like Jihadists because we won't offend despots.
