The theme for this weekend is Air Shows and comparing them in the US and Britain. I have picked Biggin Hill Air Show which is an ex RAF Station which is now in private ownership but continues to have an annual Air Show.

I last visited the airshow in 2000 but a friend of mine attended this year. The following are extracts from this year's program.

I agree it's "airway robbery" but I guess you haven't been to many conventions, trade shows, etc. These prices are quite typical, don't forget the show's operators usually "get something off the top" as their fee for letting the vendors operate.

A great presentation. It took me back to another air show here in the States. I was part of the Arrangements Committee that opened the (just newly remodeled) Logan International Airport in 1950. In that era jet engines were a novelty and we were amazed to see a B-17 fly by us on 1 (jet) engine made by GE

Food is often so expensive at these sort of events, though expensive I thought Biggin Hill's prices were not extortion I have seen worse instead stadiums at soccer games.
