The theme for this weekend is Air Shows and comparing them in the US and Britain. I have picked Biggin Hill Air Show which is an ex RAF Station which is now in private ownership but continues to have an annual Air Show.
I last visited the airshow in 2000 but a friend of mine attended this year. The following are extracts from this year's program.
Time I turned in - will be back tomorrow !!!!
I'm in and out--mostly watching TV (late-night fare lined with Enzyte and Red Stripe commercials) and rebuilding my iTunes library--took it down after I had to turn in my laptop a year ago.
Otherwise, nothin' much here. Oh, and going to the Brewer game tomorrow--one of my dad's coworkers got the tickets to the company suite at Miller Park and invited the entire family. BTW, it's considered to be the best seats in the entire house (Suite 1, right behind home plate)
LOL...
...but you forgot the Thread Jesters Random Traveling Comedy Show featuring MikefromOhio and myself (and about a hundred dancing dingy trolls in cages) 8^)
Mike--courtesy ping per custom...
There was only so much room on the poster! :-)
LOL I never watch TV after midnight, except if there's a late game on. I'm missing a lot of music too(rare stuff that's hard to find)that I probably will not get back. Good that you're going to a game, although sitting in the suite might be more interesting than watching the Brewers.
That's OK... 8^)
I had a library that was nearly 5GB, but I only managed to pull roughly 2GB (which came out to about 25 CD-R's).
I did copy the original list over to Excel, so I'm marking off what I have, and then leaving up to the Internet to find the rest--as I cannot hook up with my buddies from Stout and Redux the songs.
Maybe tomorrow night...
Thank you very much for the links. You've got FReepmail. :o)
2GB, wow.
I used to do radio when I was in college, which is where I got most of mine from, but the cds didn't belong to me so I couldn't take them with me.
What we did is that since we were all on the same floor and most of us had iTunes, we'd all use myTunes Redux to transfer the songs.
This way, we didn't have to pester each other to borrow CD's to upload to our libraries. A couple of guys had over 10GB libraries (all the laptops had 40GB hard drives)...
However, this only worked if we were on the same network (most times, had to be on the same floor)
When I transferred out of Stout, I didn't have enough CD's or a computer to make the transfer of audio files, so I had to pick and choose...
I love the plane stuff! But, on a totally different topic, does anyone know how you contact an admin moderator on FR for what you may consider an unfair (or incredibly stupid) action on their part when they leave no record of their action!!! I've had many problems with the mods, and they hide behind their anonymity relentlessly. Even DU identifies their mods, and they're ultra-sensitive to posters who don't hate properly. But I just posted an article about a kitten that survived going thru' a woodchipper, using up about 8 of its 9 lives. I noted that I wasn't sure that it was an FR topic, but late at night it might make you feel good like it did me. The mod deleted it without comment immediately. I would just like to ask why a fairly feel good story needed to be immediately deleted when there is so much crap that is permitted (remind anyone of the MSM?)
I hear ya--as I've had a couple of run-ins with the Mods myself...
On one hand, I can kinda understand why it makes sense--it would be easier to contact and figure out what set the Mods off.
OTOH, people can easily figure out who they are and a general geographic locale. This can for obvious reasons cause problems.
My guess is that it's for security and anonymity. That way, no single moderator can be singled out and hectored for a specific action (or inaction). Kinda like the blank philosophy with the firing squads (though not exactly)...
Just peeked in for a moment. Great pictures of the airshow, Snugs. I love airshows! See ya!

I'm hosting a pub crawl! Excellent!
Hold my legs, I'm going in! ;)
True, but quite comparable to the prices charged at the airshows I attend here in Florida.
Let's hope for a repeat of last night!!
