Sometimes good things happen. I love rescuing animals. It's a good lesson for my kids, too.
That's the right lesson too. Compassion is our responsibility, not the government's. My wife and I have rescued orphaned litters of kittens (the kids help too). The last pair, we hand fed from one day old (pic below with the two in my lap). They still had their umbilical cords. We've had to curtail the rescue operations though, because we've kept at least one cat from every litter (up to four now).

Mine Operators have historically been hesitant to follow the law. The bottom line is the dollar, as always (the beauty of capitalism). Could this possibly have been backlash from the Clinton Administration? Hmmm...I'll have to read more tonight when I'm not at work!
