My goodness you are up pretty early m'dear!!!!
Dial up is the pits, isn't it? That is what I have all the time..SLOW & PATIENCE are the two words that come to mind. That is why I love having my second, graphic computer right next to the Internet one. While things very SLOWLY do their thing, I can do pix work.
Long day here planned of yard work, basement work(still cleaning up after most recent flood), shopping, laundry & major kitchen shovel out & same with garage. Supposed to be hot today again.. well into 90s temp wise & low 100s heat index wise.

I think that would be called the gift of sharing.
Thank you for Sharing this cute story.
My mom told us stories of the depression and how they survived. It is hard to imagine the life they lived. My mom lived in Texas so I doubt they had a bathing suit to share. :)

This dial up is the pits.
I haven't used it for such a long time that I needed to call the ISP for a current phone number. :)
I need to post this morning's welcome, but I hate to try to open my graphics folder. :)
We have a big afternoon planned. My Sis and I are taking Marissa and Michael to a park so they can visit with their little half sisters. Their Dad is going to meet us and I'm taking sandwiches and something to drink.
The kids have not been together for almost a year. Marissa is so excited she can hardly sit still. I've tried to explain to her that her baby sister is almost two and no longer a baby.

Small Strands
Theres something about string, and yarn, that binds a womans life.
Perhaps an instinctive bond that helps to get us through the strife.
What seems a passing fancy when youre just a little girl,
May still excite you even though your hair has turned to pearl.
Were bound to one another with small strands which we could snap,
Except they lead us to a source of strength that we can tap.
They bind a little girl into a net of learning ways,
To make things that express her love, and brighten up her days.
Shes caught up in the magic that the older woman spins,
Until she finds shes stuck behind a forest of needles and pins.
Her own defensive fortress that will shield her from concern,
With a beneficial hobby that will still be fun to learn.

Word Watch
Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. James 3:10
|
Good grammar matters to me. As a writer and former English teacher, I'm bothered when I hear the wrong word used by people I think should know better. For instance, using "I" instead of "me" or "who" instead of "whom." There's a proper way to use the language, and it makes me cringe when the standard is violated.
There's another kind of incorrect word usage that is far worse. It happens when Christians utter words that fall short of the standard God expects. Whenever we use words that are considered crude, profane, or obscene, we violate God's clear standards. Anytime we speak any form of God's name irreverently or in a way that doesn't honor Him, we displease Him (Exodus 20:7). If we joke about sinful practices, we are speaking in a way we shouldn't (Ephesians 5:12). Or if we participate in coarse talk (5:4), we bring dishonor to the name of Christ. James said, "Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. . . . These things ought not to be so" (James 3:10). Such speech is hypocritical. Controlling our tongue is difficult because it is an "unruly evil" (v.8). For the glory of God, and with respect for His standards, let's watch our words. Dave Branon

According to Tulip, today is Strawberry Parfait Day.
May calendar says it is Billie and T'wit's birthdays, But .....
Twit tells me it is also Rosemary's Baby's birthday, and the anniversary
of the Korean War and Custer's Massacre.

I love lemon curd sandwiches, lemon curd and in fact anything with lemon or ginger in it was my mum's favourite so I got a taste for both at an early age and still like both of them.
Lemon and ginger buns (small cakes similar to muffins but a bit denser are one of my favourites).

I'll look for some lemon curd next time I do my shopping. I'm not sure I've ever had lemon curd sandwiches.
