Will do. I've had some trouble accessing my e-mail with this new firewall software, but I should be able to get it through the internet server if I can't get it here.

Known Unto God
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? Psalm 77:9
|
While visiting a World War I military cemetery in France, I was struck by the number of grave markers bearing only these words: A SOLDIER OF THE GREAT WAR: KNOWN UNTO GOD The cemetery was surrounded on three sides by stone panels bearing the names of 20,000 soldiers who fell in nearby battles. Imagining the loneliness of men dying in war and the anguish of families grieving at home was overpowering. There may be times in life when we feel forgotten and alone. Like the psalmist we cry out: "Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favorable no more? . . . Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies?" (Psalm 77:7,9). The psalmist's answer to feeling abandoned came in remembering all that God had done in the past, meditating on His wonderful work, and speaking of it to others (vv.11-12). In our darkest moments, we can remember the words of Jesus: "Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows" (Luke 12:6-7). We are never forgotten by God. David McCasland
When trials loom or death is near, In Christ we can confide; We never need to feel alone He's always at our side. Sper
In every desert of trial, God has an oasis of comfort.

Memorial Day
As you go through the holiday,
With friend and family.
Enjoy yourself and have some fun,
But please help others see.
The reason we can live this life,
Of freedom in this land.
Is due to those who sacrifice,
Yes those who raised their hand.
The nation called they answered then,
They answer still today.
So take a moment, say a prayer,
Remember them some way.
They do not go to die for us,
But know, that die, they might.
But that is no deterrent still,
To keep them from the fight.
Please put your faith in God above,
All Blessings come from Him.
God Bless them all, both young an old,
Bless those who wait for them.
We wont forget the ones who died,
Or they who serve us still.
We owe them all, for all we have,
Remember them, I will!

The Patriot
His brother died that day in Pearl,
The sneak attack took place.
He lost a cousin on D-Day,
He still can see his face.
The fight was tough and many died,
But freedom they would save.
He fought the Nazis gallantly,
He was more scared than brave.
But he and others pressed the fight,
And soon prevail they did.
He came back home to tickertape,
Back home to wife and kid.
He raised his family, they raised theirs,
Now all have moved away.
His wife passed several years ago.
He misses her each day.
Whats happened to the land he loves,
The one he fought hard for.
He cant go out for walks at night,
He has to lock his door.
He stays at home and reads a bit,
At least his dog still cares.
The young folks drive by in their cars,
Their music loud, their stares.
He flies Old Glory everyday,
He takes her in at night.
He sometimes wishes that he knew,
Just what could make it right.
Ill tell you now we owe this man,
Much more than we can pay.
Lets take our country back for him,
We need to start today.
Right now our troops are overseas,
Like he was long ago.
When they come home, home must be here,
The home we used to know.
Turn off the TV, get outside,
Go shake your neighbors hand.
Vote out the leftist liberals,
Get loud and take a stand.
America, is ours to save,
From outside and within.
Lets keep her strong and keep her great,
So home shell be again.

With My Shield, Or On It
I know it is upsetting,
To see things done this way.
Flag-draped caskets side by side,
Theyre headed home today.
One thing you might not think about,
The view from the inside.
Ive got some time now on my hands,
While on this final ride.
Sorry I didnt write more,
Too late to fix that now.
Ill try to be more scrupulous,
To get word out somehow.
There are no easy channels,
But Im sure that you will know,
I dont regret the choice I made,
And why I had to go.
Youd think perhaps the view from here,
Would be quite dark inside,
But it is light as light can be,
My burdens been untied.
And Ive been lifted up,
On angel wings I think,
And Ive got every thing I need,
Except our kitchen sink.
Id like to wash my hands once more,
And turn and get a hug.
I wish I could shake the hand of,
My best friend too, ya lug.
But all that stuff is over now,
Ive got my new assignment,
Looks like I hitched my wagon to,
A different star alignment.
I know I always promised Mom,
Id try to be real good,
Will someone please just let her know,
I did the best I could.
I have to go now, duty calls,
Think of me when you can,
The folks will think they lost their boy,
My buddies saw a man.

Faded Flags
There are a lot of faded flags. Theyve grown a tattered gray,
That were so bright and vibrant when we hung them on that day.
The fresh pain now has faded, and control is grimly kept.
The hurt that washed into our soul made furrows as we wept.
Faded too is memory, perhaps a blessed thing,
Except we get reminders of the terror that they bring.
They think they can deflect us. They hope they can prevail.
I have a bit of news for them, WE ARE NOT GOING TO FAIL.
We showed our children Peace and Love, they turned a little green,
And found compelling entertainment in a video machine.
We watched in horror as they chortled at the gore,
We hardly knew that they were hardening for War.
Our enemies underestimate the ease with which we cringe,
For they havent seen our kids go on a video killing binge.
They are prepared for battle, all we need to say is go,
Game overs when theyll note the scores belonging to the foe.
We didnt want them trained this way, but since its come about,
I think we ought to let the kids just let their feelings out.
Theyll vent a lot of anger, and well cheer them from the side,
And theyll sweep away the flaming horde just like a rising tide.
And faded colors of the flag will gain a brighter gleam,
As the new recruits are added to the old part of the team.
Some may return with wounds and mental hurt that keep them blue,
While others will be stellar in the things they have to do.
The purest of their valor will be shown within the fight,
And white will represent them in the dawns approaching light.
And yes, we will have casualties. Many smiles will end up dead.
And well sew the bravest color in their shroud in brightest red.
