"Riddle-Master of Hed", "Heir of Sea and Fire", "Harpist in the Wind" -- very good trilogy from Patricia A. McKillip.

Not "classic", but I'd like to see the Fiest Riftwar series.

Foundation trilogy.

Everything of Asimov's that Hollywood touches turns to sludge. C3PO faintly resembles one of Asimov's prissy robots, and of course Asimov is the most famous author to write about a galactic empire modeled after Rome, featuring a secretive society of priests that make it work, and a mind reading mutant who tries to take control.

I would like to see how they do thread fall and the inside of the dragon's lairs.

And the moral of the stories would be good too.

Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series and Terry Brook's Shannara series. Both have more than enough material to work with and are particularly suited to conversion to TV. I'd also like to see something based off of L. Neil Smith's Probability Broach. With all the CSI type shows out there, a sci-fi gumshoe/alternate reality thing just might play well.

Oooh, I'd love to see Footfall made into a movie! Of course, given Hollywood's leftism, the vegitarian, herd-mentality, pachyderm aliens would probably get portrayed as the good guys.

Any series by David Weber, or John Ringo. They may not be classics, but they will be...

And while I'm on "non-classic", how about Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash and/or The Diamond Age?

They've been trying to put Enders Game together as a movie for a long long time, now. The Xenocide trilogy would have to follow it, there's a lot of overlap that'd need to be explained. I found speaker for the dead to be a bit dry.
