Spring Sets Forth
The world awakes, and opens eye.
To wipe the sleep-dust from its sky.
It clothes itself in finest dress,
And tempts small things to self express,
The bird in song, the bud in leaf,
The questing pilgrim in belief,
A fool in love, his heart so full,
He cannot stand against the pull.
This is the world of vernal hope,
That calls shy spirits to elope,
To cast aside their sloughing shell,
And step forth, in new Life to dwell.
Bring out the living, cast down doubt,
Leave all dark thoughts, and go without,
The dampened spirit has been wrung,
And in our hearts a world has sprung.
The new-born hope may toddle crude,
While I will stride with certitude.
I have been in this place before,
And well I know what Spring is for.

Light corn syrup is white corn syrup. I haven't bought any for awhile but Karo syrup was either dark or light.
I have not tried this recipe but Ladyinred did and I posted her notes with the recipe. Let me know what you think of it.

I just checked your profile page and see that you are located in England.
Karo is a brand name for the light syrup.
Those Hot Cross Buns look delicious. At this time of night, I do not need to start looking for a snack. :)
I'm about ready to say good night.
It is almost Friday here; have a blessed Easter weekend.
Have a wonderful Good Friday.

Poem for Easter
If I could write an Easter sonnet
it would not be about a bonnet
or a bunny or an egg. Why write
of them, when, near midnight
this Good Friday I have seen
the March moon, benign, serene,
companioned by the southern stars.
I looked beyond slim metal bars
fixed to my window, through the pane
saw the moons slow, tender wane
to half itself, but no less bright,
an upturned bowl, a cup of light.
For a moment I saw more than gloss:
through glass clearly moon became a cross.

King Of Our Lives
I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. -1 Corinthians 15:3
Bible In One Year: Ruth 1-4
|
More than 2,000 years ago in Jerusalem, Pontius Pilate commanded that a placard be placed on the cross that read: "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews." Perhaps Pilate sought to induce fear among the people and discourage them from crowning their own king.
King of the Jews. Was it an original thought at the time? Perhaps it had been introduced when the wise men asked, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?" (Matthew 2:2). They had sought the fulfillment of this promise: "For unto us a Child is born . . . ; the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). They believed Jesus was this Child. Later, when Christ was crucified, some jeered, "If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross" (Matthew 27:40). They wanted to see if Jesus really was King. But Jesus did not come down. The true meaning of the cross is that "Christ died for our sins" (1 Corinthians 15:3). He who paid the penalty of our sins has made God's forgiveness possible. Those who accept God's forgiveness and ask Jesus Christ to be their Savior and Lord can have only one appropriate response-to serve Him. He is King of our lives. -Albert Lee
King of my life I crown Thee now- Thine shall the glory be; Lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow, Lead me to Calvary. -Hussey
Jesus is King of our lives, so we must serve Him all of our lives.

Have a blessed Good Friday.
It sends chills down my spine to hear of the tornados in the Jacksonville, Florida area, sort of like Calvary on this day.

Good morning/afternoon (whatever) pretty lady. Although our collective hearts are breaking over the pain with the Terri's ordeal, we must try to remember the message of life eternal...all of our bodies will corrupt and time is one of those determinate items that we are for now caught in.
Might catch you later. Was to go to see the new re-cut Passion, but it seems to have left the area. I am shocked. Good Friday & it is not in any of the 20+ theaters in NE Ohio.
Church service tonight...
I am pretty hungry (I have been on a fast for a few days..) the pix of the hot crossed buns made me drool .... see , I drool over things other than POTUS !
