Itches

My dog had been feeling nervous,
Some things that annoyed from inside.
He was feeling the itch of the sands of time,
An urge that could not be denied.

Although he was getting older,
He felt the strivings of youth,
He wanted to find a young female,
Though it might have been slightly uncouth.

I sympathized with his condition,
I had middle-aged urges myself
His canine philosophy was very direct,
He could not put it up on the shelf.

All of us have Alzheimer’s.
Our sands are all running out.
Some in a quiet sussurance,
Some in a screaming shout.

One day you are in your prime,
Next, you wake up in Hell.
The windows in the Train of Life,
Are mirrors on our selves.

We don’t know our destination,
We only know where we’ve been.
Most of us only seem to regret,
Those times that we didn’t sin.

We want to have a legacy,
Something of us left behind.
The warmth of the seat when you leave it,
Isn’t always a pleasure to find.

Look back on the tracks you are leaving,
How much did you walk alone?
How well did you make the path easier?
How much of a light have you shone?

These questions come up only after,
It may be too late to affect,
The ultimate stop that’s soon coming.
Just hope you can get off at Heck.

Reminisce all that you want to,
Your fate is in what you have done.
And the light that comes out of the shadows,
Counts as much as the things in the sun.

My dog never made any puppies,
And I kept my own self in check.
Although I spent time in the darkness,
I’m quite sure that I’m heading for Heck.

But I did do some verse about a cowboy who went to Heck in a Chevrolet.

To the tune of Ghost Riders in the Sky:

An ol' cowpoke named Melvin.....went riding out one day.
He rode out to the levy....in his new Chevrolet.
The blazing sun was beating down .... no clouds were in the sky.
When he got to the levy......the river had gone dry.

Thirsty dry ooooh.
Thirsty dry aaaaa.
Pore ol' thirsty Melvin.

His tongue was swelling in his mouth......his face was turning green.
When he spied upon the shore... a big red Coke machine.
As he tried in vain to reach it...it vanished from his sight.
He sobbed and cried as he realized...how hopeless was his plight.

chorus

His eyes were full of tears and sweat....his teeth were full of grit.
He cried for help, with every step.....he sank knee deep in $hit.
The awful odor of that place..... was all that he could smell.
Cause he had died within the night.... and now he was in Hell.

chorus

Don't let Darksheare hear about that Coke machine from Hell.

He'll be dreaming about it.

Pull up a seat here on the train. We'll swap lies.

A big red Coke machine in the fiery reddish glow of Hell, now there's an image.

We need a graphic artist.

You know, that would have to be one really mean soulless machine to get sent to Hell.

I think I've met it.

Has to be the one that dropped the soda can in such a way that you couldn't get it out of the dispenser slot..

Naw, it was just a mirage. Everybody knows they don't sell Cokes in Heck.

More likely it's the one that killed the guy for rattling it.

"But, your Honor, I didn't mean to hurt him. I got rattled."

Besides, a Coke machine in Hell seems very appropriate. Just don't expect it to dispense anything. (Sounds of Demonic laughter....)

Pictures? LOL

I have several pictures that should be posted to the rally thread. Yesterday, I didn't get any pictures. Jim asked that I use his camera and get some pictures for him. I may need to nudge him to get a thread posted.

We had about 55 people there, including several children. We had enough food to feed another 15. Everyone had a great time and I'm tired. :)

That's TWICE as evil!

A possessed, evil soda machine that isn't really there, yikes!

THAT is evil.
It sits there and either isn't really there, or it is and won't let you have the soda..

The light flickers in shades of red and darkness. Screams of tortured souls fill the endless night.

In the stillness, there is movement. A ragged, skeletal figure stealthily approaches the softly chuckling Coke machine.

In the stifling heat, droplets of condensation whisper promises of the coolness within. The figure looks around in fear, rising slowly. With trembling hands, it feeds coins into the coin slot. One by one, the coins go in, as the tortured figure looks around guardedly.

Suddenly the machine stirs to life. Whirring and clacking, issuing noises like a riot in a bowling alley, the machine shakes and rocks back and forth. The figure shrinks back, holding its emaciated hands up as if to ward off the onslaught of noise.

On the ridge of the hillside, two Demons arise, looking around as if for a lost sheep. With Demonic agility, they leap from rock to rock in utter disregard of safety.

Immediately they grasp their screeching quarry, and begin hauling the pitiful wretch back to its doom.

Eventually, the machine stops its clanking, and settles into silence. At even intervals, a coin is ejected forcefully from the coin slot, sailing out into the darkness, bouncing and rolling into crevices around the hillside.

The demonic Coke machine settles into quiescence, softly chuckling in its cold mechanical heart.
