"INSCRIPTION FOR A FLAME (LOVER)"
My life is set afire:
As we dance magically.
What do ashes matter when
The flame is tall and beautiful?
In the manner of a falling bull
Let us sing the song of the flames.
Let us sing the song of life,
As befitting the all-consuming light ...
NOTE: I did a rough translation from the Portugese last night, and invite the Illuminati (Cognesenti) to assist in the perfection
of this poetry; in other words, to swap ideas on the interpretation and presentation of this candlelit poem. Enjoy!
R. D. Jones And His Sewing Machine </b, /font>
The following is an ad from a real-life newspaper which appeared four days in a row - the last three hopelessly trying to correct the first day's mistake.
MONDAY:
For sale: R. D. Jones has one sewing machine for sale. Phone 948-0707 after 7 P.M.. and ask for Mrs. Kelly who lives with him cheap.
TUESDAY:
Notice: We regret having erred In R. D. Jones' ad yesterday. It should have read "One sewing machine for sale cheap. Phone 948-0707 and ask for Mrs. Kelly, who lives with him after 7 P.M."
WEDNESDAY:
Notice: R. D. Jones has informed us that he has received several annoying telephone calls because of the error we made in the classified ad yesterday. The ad stands correct as follows: "For sale -- R. D. Jones has one sewing machine for sale. Cheap. Phone 948-0707 after 7 P.M. and ask for Mrs. Kelly who loves with him."
THURSDAY:
Notice: I, R. D. Jones, have no sewing machine for sale. I intentionally broke it. Don't call 948-0707 as I have had the phone disconnected. I have not been carrying on with Mrs. Kelly. Until yesterday she was my housekeeper, but she has now quit.
Read: Colossians 3:5-9
Do not let the sun go down on your wrath. Ephesians 4:26
Bible In One Year: Proverbs 8-9; 2 Corinthians 3
How did everything get so dirty so fast?" I grumbled as I dusted the glass tabletop. "I had the whole house clean a month ago."
"Cleaning is a way of life, not an event," my husband responded.
I know he's right, but I hate to admit it. I want to clean the house once and have it stay that way. But dirt doesn't surrender that easily. Speck by speck, the dust returns. Piece by piece, the clutter piles up.
Sin is like the dust and clutter in my house. I want to eliminate all of it with one prayer of confession and repentance. But sin doesn't surrender that easily. Thought by thought, bad attitudes return. Choice by choice, un-pleasant consequences pile up.
The apostle Paul told the believers in Colosse to get rid of "anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language" (Colossians 3:8). And he told the church at Ephesus, "Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath" (Ephesians 4:26).
Christ's death and resurrection eliminated the need for daily sacrifice. But confession and repentance are still essential to the Christian's daily life. Getting rid of such things as anger, rage, and malice is a way of life, not a one-time event. Julie Ackerman Link

Sorry OESY, I found this on Snopes.com or Urban Legends, it has come to me in e-mail a couple of times:
Claim: Quranic verse speaks of the "wrath of the Eagle cleansing the lands of Allah."
Status: False.
Example: [Collected on the Internet, 2003]
Quran (9:11) -- For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.
Origins: No, this isn't a legitimate quotation from the Quran (or Koran), the sacred text of Islam. The chapter and verse citation quoted above is a leg-pull, an obvious play on the USA's (the Eagle) launching of military action against Afghanistan and Iraq (the "lands of Allah") in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks on America organized by Osama bin Laden (the "son of Arabia awakening a fearsome eagle"). That the chapter and verse selection match the date of the terrorist attacks (9:11) is another giveaway to the joke.
Depending upon which translation of the Quran one uses, the section corresponding to chapter 9, verse 11 actually reads something like this:
But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and We make the communications clear for a people who know.

LOL! Love the sewing machine ad! Thank you OESY!
I am John Kerry.
I was against the first Iraq war, I am against the second Iraq war, but I voted for it. Now I'm against it but I was for it
I support the UN.
I'm against terrorism and against the Iraq war. But I voted for the Iraq war. So, I voted against the first war and supported the second war, wait...
I'm against gay marriage, but for gay unions. I support gays but think the SF mayor is wrong. I support gay marriages. No, wait, gay unions.
I'm Catholic. Wait, I'm Jewish. My dad was Jewish, but I was raised Catholic. What am I? I don't want to confuse people.
I am for abortions, but wait, I'm Catholic, and Catholics are pro-life. But I might consider putting pro-life judges in office, but I'm not sure. I do know I voted for a pro-life judge, but I stated that it was a mistake.
I went to Vietnam, but I was against Vietnam. I testified against fellow US troops in Vietnam, threw my medals away and led others to do the same. But I am a war hero. Against the war.
I stated I threw my medals away, then I threw my ribbons away. I then revealed that I threw my ribbons away but not my medals, then lately I stated that I threw someone else's medals away and never threw anything of mine away. I believe Ribbons and medals aren't the same thing. Medals come with ribbons, so now I believe that ribbons and medals are the same thing besides the fact that ribbons are cloth and medals are medal.
I wrote a book that pictured the US flag upside-down on its cover. But now I fly and campaign in a plane with a large flag right-side up on it. But sometimes, we fly upside-down for fun.
Yasser Arafat is a hero and a statesman. The Israelis shouldn't kill Palestinian terrorists, but they should stop terrorism. Yasser Arafat is a terrorist supporter. I support Mideast peace.
I am for the common man. Unlike Bush, I am against the rich, but my family is worth 300 million dollars has a jet and many SUVs. I am the common man.
I am against sending jobs overseas. My wife is a Heinz heir, which Heinz has most factories offshore. I am against rewarding companies for exporting jobs as long as it is not Heinz.
I own $1 million in Wal-Mart stock. I believe Wal-Mart is evil by driving small business owners out of town. I am a capitalist and I own part of Wal-Mart, but I am a good guy for small corporate America.
I own SUVs when I talk to my followers in Detroit, MI, Teresa owns SUVs, but I don't own SUVs when I talk to tree hugging followers. I have a campaign jet that gets 1/3 mpg, which is great fuel efficiency.
I am against making military service an issue in presidential elections. I defended a draft dodger, Clinton, and stated that all serve in their own capacity whether they draft dodge or not. Did I mention, I served in Vietnam and am a hero?
Are you questioning my patriotism? I served in Vietnam. My opponent didn't. I have three purple hearts! I am a hero. I am qualified to run this country since I served in Vietnam.
I am John Kerry.
Oh, no. I feel like Dan Rather, all over again.
Um, have you felt like Dan Rather before?
AWWWW!!!!
Mornin', everybody ! Happy Friday ! TGIF!!![]()
Have a cup while you Freep !
Well, there was this time when I posted at P&P exactly the same poem about a wolf that Amy had used earlier in the day. That's when I learned to stay away from daily themes. Guess I'm a little slow in follow-through.
Hi there. Sorry I haven't been around for the past couple of days. I'm still a bit under the weather. I hope you are all doing well.
How precious! Thank you so much for the poem and graphic!
Happy Sewing Machine Day!!!
Happy Swap Ideas Day. ( so this is JF Kerry Day?)
;~0
Thank you from the team.
Have a nice weekend, but remember Sept 11, 2001!!!
Pray for the families of those lost that day and pray for the families of those who gave their lives to protect our freedoms. Please pray for our Military and President Bush.
Lots of prayer requests today!!
