Making Scents

If I become a basket case, like these sweet-smelling flowers,
Just plunk me down at Amy’s Place, where I can lurk for hours.
The folks that come by always have the nicest things to say,
And I can take my mind off that John Kerry for a day.

Yep, set me down where I can sip a dose of wake-up juice,
And let me ramble through the posts, my thoughts completely loose.
I’ll try to stick to pathways and not stray outside the fence,
And if I have something to say, who knows? It might make sense.

Evenin' Amy.

If this HOT weather keeps up through the weekend, we're gonna need lots more ice. :)

whew! It's so hot the perspiration is rolling off like sweat.

LOL

I expected cooler weather for the weekend but it looks like it will not cool off until the first of the week.

I think I should get a couple of blocks of ice instead of the bags of chipped ice. We'll never make it thru the day without an ice run.

Do You Remember?
Jennifer O'Brien

Do you remember when life was a game
Do you remember when all we wanted was fame
Do you remember making mud pies
Do you remember telling little white lies
Do you remember playing dress up
With all your older sisters make-up
Do you remember being afraid of the dark
Do you remember the adventures
On which you used to embark
Do you remember when you hated boys
Do you remember having all those toys
Do you remember your first bike
Do you remember what being a kid was like
Do you remember?

Grandma's Lilacs

Grandma's yard was full of flowers
Never were there weeds
Sweetly smelling velvet petals
She planted all from seeds.

Roses, daisies, daffodils,
I caught my breath each time
I walked into this little garden
It's beauty was sublime.

Grandma loved her lilacs best
She held her breath each year
Hoping that the weather held
A late freeze she would fear.

The magic morning would arrive
When fragrance filled the room
And I would know before I looked
Grandma's lilacs were in bloom.

Who's To Blame?

Read: Luke 13:1-5

Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners? —Luke 13:2

Bible In One Year: Proverbs 3-5; 2 Corinthians 1

A husband and wife were killed when their car was struck by a drunk driver. Why did this happen? They were good people, active in their church, and dearly loved. They were in no way at fault, and we can't blame God for the other driver getting drunk.

Some people would blame the devil. Yet we must recognize the fact that an intoxicated driver who loses control of his car is likely to kill someone.

Jesus referred to two tragedies that occurred in His day. In one, Pilate had killed some Galileans and mixed their blood with their sacrifices (Luke 13:1). In the other, 18 Israelites died when a tower fell on them (v.4). The idea was that people who died like that must have been guilty of horrendous sins.

Jesus rejected that kind of thinking. He told His hearers that instead of trying to find someone to blame, they should see such events as a call to repentance. If they willfully rejected Him as their Messiah and persisted in that sin, they would face a fearful end.

When we hear of inexplicable tragedies, let's be content to leave the "why" question unanswered. Assured of God's love (Romans 8:39), let's look at these events as a time for self-examination and repentance. —Herb Vander Lugt

As members of a fallen race,
The question that we all must face
Is "Have we chosen to repent
And trusted Christ whom God has sent?" —D. De Haan

Life's tragedies are a call to reflect and repent.

COURTESY OF OESY...

Pardon me, but today is:

Nose Hair Maintenance Day (shades of Emily Latella?)
Do It Day (I'm sure the Net Nanny will put the right spin on this)
Pardon Me Day (necessary if you celebrate the first option in public)

Great to see you.
I'm finally answering a few pings.
