TS claims my eyes light up when I talk about tax.

They do. It's frightening.

Good afternoon, Meekie. Happy Thursday.

I was out for a couple of hours and it was pretty warm. It should be a little cooler next week.

"You just keep on writin' them purty words, don't you...."

Well, I try. It's a lot easier to match them up with the purty pictures that you and Mama Bear send.

Like this one!

Have you noticed, the smaller the bird, the more cheerful it seems to be? The little chickadees and sparrows always seem to be having a good time. NicknamedSue thinks they are engaged in gossip.

Then you look at Bluejays! What an annoyance they can be! And what a raucous cry!

Finally, with crows and ravens, it seems no wonder they symbolize death. (But another poet has touched on that ...)

Certain things we associate with youth; shorter limbs than the adult, less harsh and angular facial features; and smaller size. So we tend to automatically think of small animals (and birds) as being cute.

But that alone does not explain their cheerful nature.

Seen that before. It is a beautiful story that brings tears to my eyes.

On another note, my lurking days are over...the only reason I didn't FReep during the day today is I was stuck in meetings all day.

Talk to you tomorrow, er today, er FRIDAY THE 13TH..AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!

Hi Amy, and everybody.

An August Midnight

I

A shaded lamp and a waving blind,
And the beat of a clock from a distant floor:
On this scene enter--winged, horned, and spined -
A longlegs, a moth, and a dumbledore;
While 'mid my page there idly stands
A sleepy fly, that rubs its hands . . .

II

Thus meet we five, in this still place,
At this point of time, at this point in space.
- My guests parade my new-penned ink,
Or bang at the lamp-glass, whirl, and sink.
"God's humblest, they!" I muse. Yet why?
They know Earth-secrets that know not I.

~ Thomas Hardy

Tax IS bad

I'm not saying tax is a good thing. It's a necessary evil and the system definitely needs an overhaul. It's just that for some odd reason I actually understand what's going on.

Wow. Still 100 there. We are still benefitting from the cold front. It was 87
about 4 hours ago when we were driving back here from my aunt's house.

Says 81 now .....

I don't get to take Ritz with me when I move. He stays with my parents. He doesn't like moving. Plus, I usually end up staying in places that don't allow animals except fish.
