Your Table is Waiting

Your place awaits in morning light,
The coffee has been brewed just right.
Sit down and have a cup or two,
And let us share a poem with you.

You needn’t dress a special way,
We’re glad to see you this fine day.
Come share a moment with a friend,
And carry joy to daylight’s end.

For every minute you spend here,
A dozen more are filled with cheer,
And though you cannot stay all day,
We’re glad you chose to come our way.

Black Coffee

It grows on little bushes,
Not trees or even vine.
The bean needs to be roasted,
Then brewed into fine wine.
Colombia, does grow the best,
I like mine mountain grown.
No cream, no sugar in it,
Starbucks, yeech, I moan.
Just hot and fresh and in a cup,
I really like it black.
You keep your Cappuccino,
I’d want my money back.

to the church, mister," his astute friend enjoins.

How many times must he flip flop and flip,
Before he takes a firm stand?
How many lies must he tell about Nam,
Before we all call his hand?
How many times can he vote pro and con,
Before he is totally canned?
His answer my friend, is changing with the wind.

How many times must I hear him drone on,

How many deaths did he cause there in Nam,
With all his appeasements at home?
