 Mindflight

Bubbles of imagination, in our childhood daze,
Waft away on gleaming dreams in unpredicted ways.
Some see an orb and note the swirling bits of hue,
Another watches as its path drifts gently out of view.

The playful mind takes flight as gentle pinpricks of the damp,
Propel the thoughtful consequence in this jolly training camp.
Are these the new Montgolfiers, to teach us all to fly?
Or will they be explorers in another realm of Why?

They reach for understanding, and enjoy the search as well.
That the teacher likes the process is an easy thing to tell.
The mind expands when it has wonder in its view,
And the youngest minds are always most accepting of the new.

A Shoulder

Youve been quiet. We all can see
how silent you are, to us and to me.
Weve not seen your words, your laughter, your face,
but we all know that each of us, needs our own space.

Comfort comes in such shapes and forms,
like frosty mornings, or summer storms,
mugs of cocoa, fresh spring breeze,
or quiet time, to do as we please.

Each of us needs a reminder, however,
that when things just arent right, and the squalls and the weather
just arent going our way, we cant be bolder
than to ask of a friend, I need a shoulder.

The Oil Of Helpfulness
  Read: Isaiah 61:1-3
The Lord has anointed Me . . . to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning. Isaiah 61:1,3
Bible In One Year: Psalms 60-62; Romans 5

There's a story of an eccentric old man who carried an oil can with him everywhere he went. If he passed through a squeaky door or a stiff gate, he applied oil to the hinges. His practice of lubricating made life easier for those who followed after him.
Nearly every day we encounter people whose lives creak and grate harshly with problems. In such situations we face two choiceseither to aggravate their problems with a spirit of criticism or to lubricate their lives in the Spirit of Christ.
Some people we meet carry unbearable burdens and long for the oil of a sympathetic word. Others are defeated and feel like giving up. Just one drop of encouragement could restore their hope. Still others are mean and sin-hardened. Such people can become pliable toward the saving grace of Christ through regular applications of the oil of kindness.
When we receive Christ as our Savior and Lord, the Holy Spirit indwells us and equips us to bless others. If we're prepared to pour out God's oil of helpfulness every day and everywhere, beginning at home, we'll minister Christ's beauty and the oil of joy to many hurting people.
Perhaps the old man with the oil can wasn't so eccentric after all. Joanie Yoder

 Putting It Into Practice

     - Lend a listening ear.

- Pause to pray specifically.

- Speak a word of encouragement.

The human spirit can gain new hope from an encouraging word.

    That was beautiful.

It's also calmed me down from a towering rage I was in (at the world in general) a while ago, so thankyou on both counts for posting that.

Have a good one, Sarge... *salutes, waves to everyone else here, bows out*

 Do You Remember?
 By Jennifer O'Brien

Do you remember when life was a game
Do you remember when all we wanted was fame
Do you remember making mud pies
Do you remember telling little white lies
Do you remember playing dress up
With all your older sisters make-up
Do you remember being afraid of the dark
 Do you remember the adventures
On which you used to embark
Do you remember when you hated boys
Do you remember having all those toys
Do you remember your first bike
Do you remember what being a kid was like
 Do you remember?
