Inspiration

Just where does it all come from,
And just why is it here?
Some of it our eyes do see,
And some tickles the ear.
It’s really all around I find,
I mean it’s where it’s found.
It’s in the sky both day and night,
And even on the ground.
My theory is God put it here,
For us to find and share.
His love and blessings touch our hearts,
Reminds us of His care.
I’ll use my eyes and use my ears,
But mostly use my heart.
That’s where the inspiration is,
It’s been there from the start.

The Upside Of Dying

A Sunday school teacher asked some 5-year-olds a series of questions to help them realize that trusting in Jesus is the only way to get to heaven. He asked, "If I sell everything I have and give the money to the church, would that get me into heaven?" "No," they answered. "How about if I keep everything clean in and around the church?" Another "No." "If I love my family, am kind to animals, and give candy to every child I meet, will that get me to heaven?" Another unanimous "No!" Then he asked, "What will get me into heaven?" A little boy shouted, "You have to be dead!"

This was hardly the answer the teacher expected, but the youngster was right. The Bible tells us that we all must leave our flesh-and-blood bodies (1 Corinthians 15:50-52). Unless we are alive when Jesus returns, we all must die before entering His presence.

British preacher Charles Haddon Spurgeon captured this truth in a sermon titled "Why They Leave Us." He pointed out that Jesus' prayer in John 17:24 is answered every time a Christian dies. The person leaves his body and enters the presence of his Savior, where he beholds His glory. What a comfort for the believer! It reveals the upside of dying. Honolulu (SSN-718)The Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine Honolulu (SSN-718) surfaces in an open water area approximately 280 miles from the North Pole. Commanded by Cmdr. Charles Harris, Honolulu while conducting otherwise classified operations in the Arctic collected scientific data and water samples for U.S. and Canadian Universities as part of an agreement with the Artic Submarine Laboratory (ASL) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). Honolulu is the 24th Los Angeles-class submarine, and the first original design in her class to visit the North Pole region. Honolulu is assigned to Commander Submarine Pacific, Submarine Squadron Three, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. (navsource.org)

Despite a detente, representatives of the polar cap visit the submarine in November 2003.
