New Game?

We once had straight-laced ladies’ styles,
An ankle seen was shocking,
And now with what has been revealed,
The world, of course, is rocking.

I guess I am old fashioned,
The face attracts my glance.
And when that face reveals a smile,
I think I have a chance.

Fashions do affect our life,
They have something to say,
About the state of marriage now,
And how it got that way.

It used to be that marriage meant,
We’d covered all the bases.
Today the way we play the game,
Some girls don’t hide their aces.

I prefer a few cards to be showing. That way I know whether to fold or not.

The bees do toil the whole long day,
And never they complain.
But humans do not have this trait,
We incur my disdain.
We whine about our busy lives,
But free time's all around.
When we spend less time worrying,
More happiness is found.
Unlike the bees we have free thought,
So wisely spend your hours.
Don't worry about pollen there,
Stop and smell the flowers.

Good morning, Meekie!

You must have already been to Bally's. ; )

The four year old spent the night. I went to bed early and overslept. She woke me at 11:00 to tell me the movie was over but all I did was turn off the TV.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. —Matthew 5:16

My life was dark until the Light shone in,
That Light was Christ, who saved me from my sin;
His light that I've received I long to share
In loving deeds for people everywhere.

A Christian's life is a window through which others can see Jesus.

Putting Love Into Practice

Read: Matthew 5:11-16

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. —Matthew 5:16

Bible In One Year: 1 Chronicles 1-3; John 5:25-47

In his book Christians in the Marketplace, Bill Hybels says that people outside the faith often say, "Show me" before they say, "Tell me."

I knew a young man in Germany named Wolfgang who modeled Hybels' principle at a building site where he worked. As an enthusiastic believer, Wolfgang always read his Bible during lunch. Though his fellow workers jeered, he didn't stop his daily reading. He simply prayed for a way to demonstrate Christ's love to them.

When the workers went home at night, they always left their muddy boots behind. Wolfgang began staying late after work to clean their boots. The men were puzzled at first but then realized that Wolfgang was the only one among them who would perform this humble service. Not only did they come to respect him, but sometimes they even asked him to read the Bible to them. Only eternity will reveal the full effect of Wolfgang's shining life. But this we know: When his co-workers saw his good works, they started listening to his God.

Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may . . . glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). If you long to lead the people around you to Jesus, radiate His love by doing practical deeds for God's glory alone. —Joanie Yoder

My life was dark until the Light shone in,
That Light was Christ, who saved me from my sin;
His light that I've received I long to share
In loving deeds for people everywhere. —Hess

A Christian's life is a window through which others can see Jesus.

"...I know whether to fold or not."

It used to be that fabric folds,
Concealed flesh from the eye.
But now the flesh conceals the cloth,
How's that, Conspiracy Guy?

A Thirst for Life

I drank at life so thirstily,
I hardly paused to taste,
The sweet nectar of the essence,
I’d consumed in so much haste.

Now that the glass is nearing,
The zenith of its rise,
I try to savor every drop,
And drink more with my eyes.

The world seems filled with rainbows,
With color everywhere,
And sparkling diadems that float,
As dust motes in the air.

I’ve switched to slower motion,
To capture every glance,
I want to draw in ... Everything!
While there is still a chance.

I wonder what I’ll see on,
That distant fateful morn,
The dawning sun will rise no more,
Night’s curtain won’t be torn.

No new things to enchant me,
Will memories too fail?
I will be travelling lightly,
With new seas yet to sail.

The waters I will journey,
Will seem immense and vast,
But they are only more of what,
I’ve captured in my glass.

The liquid that refreshes me,
Will ease me when it goes,
The fire that warms me in my den,
Will yield to cooling snows.

With all these cycles turning,
There seems to be no end,
I will not fear what I may find,
Beyond the hidden bend.
