New Game?
We once had straight-laced ladies styles,
An ankle seen was shocking,
And now with what has been revealed,
The world, of course, is rocking.
I guess I am old fashioned,
The face attracts my glance.
And when that face reveals a smile,
I think I have a chance.
Fashions do affect our life,
They have something to say,
About the state of marriage now,
And how it got that way.
It used to be that marriage meant,
Wed covered all the bases.
Today the way we play the game,
Some girls dont hide their aces.

I know that when some of our poems/graphics are posted both here and at the Finest, many will see them twice, but I'll try not to ping the same ones here as I did there.
There have been times when the poem and graphic are of a patriotic theme and it's a shame 'not' to share the poems in both places. With that in mind, Bob wrote this lovely poem for a graphic I had already posted a couple of times, and for those who missed his warm, sweet poem there, I hope you enjoy it here. :)

Enfolding
Grandpa has a handful now, to pray for and to add,
A little bit of sweetness to the prayer he sends for Dad.
His son has left a gift behind, to hold a place for him,
And keep the heart lines open while he does a chore for them.
Everybodys thoughts are for the one who isnt there,
But clearly in this picture there is not a lack of care.
This child is safely held within strong hands with tender grace,
That pray to have the same thing for his son, another place.
Wed like to take a moment to assist them in their cares,
And add our grateful voices to the chorus of their prayers.
Lord, hold the child and man within your strong enfolding arm,
And keep them in your thoughts as you protect them both from harm.

Perhaps I've never Kipled
and lack meter, rhythm and rhyme
Perhaps iambic pentameter
would taste best with salt and lime
But when the hours grow stodgy
And time it ossifies
I look for something further
to make the day sublime
At times nothing cuts the ennui
like a mind at conjuration
My verses even annoy me
but they are my abjuration
I leave this here among you
to kill the listless time
And wound the all of eternity
on someone else's dime
My powers of prestidigitation
our now running away
so I close with no hesitation
"So long and have a nice day!"
