Tossing a Coin

I wish I had a nickel, every time I’m at a loss.
I’d be a nickel richer, and I’d have a coin to toss.
A way to make my mind up, about which way to go,
Heads I go with sensible, Tails I guess you know,

I’ll let my heart lead me about, and let my feelings show.
This can get one in trouble, as everyone will know,
But aren’t adventures much more fun, than sitting on the side?
A nickel’s quite a little price to get to take a ride.

Morning at Amy's

Graphic by Billie

Curios and memories of times not gone by,
gentlemen's high collars, and ladies' bone lace,
Scent of rosewater from the parlor nearby,
another day's dawning, at Amy's Place.

Fine china on table, and tea on the hob,
smiles adorning a shining fresh face,
Come to the door, and with a turn of the knob,
and enter the comfort of Amy's Place.

Young men of business, all polished and keen,
Women of procelain style and grace,
Come, one and all, matters not where you've been
For today, you are welcome, at Amy's Place.

Thank you.

Old Sarge joined our team yesterday. I agree with you about the poem and graphic. They are a fine tribute to all friends of Amy's Place.

Saddam

They found him in a spider hole,
Just like we knew they would.
Though we are glad I'm sure the Dems,
Feel this is not too good.
I'm sure they all are saddened now,
For Saddam's in our hand.
The French, the Germans, chant along,
The Russians lead the band.
They want the contracts to rebuild,
The Dems want Bush to fail.
Death for Saddam is too swift,
Let’s let him rot in jail.
Congratulations to our troops,
And to our leader here.
George Bush is still the man to lead,
He gets my vote next year.

Thank you for this poem, CG.

I know that I've had it for awhile but I think we need to remind everyone of our accomplishments in Iraq.

Our troops and our President need our support!!

This SHOULD be on the front cover of Time, Newsweek, etc.
But it won't.

Read the patch under the US Flag on his shoulder.

(The flags are France, Germany, and Russia)

Chasing the Dark

My dog goes out into the night, at the end of every day,
Where the first thing that she does is bark, to chase the dark away.
Of course, she’s not afraid of it, just wants to give the warning,
That it had better pack its stuff, and clear out by the morning.

So then she goes to restful sleep, content that all is right,
And when she checks on things again, there’s nothing left of night!
She seems to be more happy then, it seems to thrill her heart,
To know that darkness ran away, and she has done her part!

I haven’t tried explaining, the way things really are,
Besides, I like the cheerfulness, of my bright morning star!
She is a useful watchdog, she watches Day and Night.
And anything she doesn’t like, just barks it out of sight.

"Women of porcelain style and grace..."

Um, excuse me, where does that leave the rest of us? *grin*

Style I abandoned a few years back. Grace, I never posessed in abundance. And a porcelain skin is something I could perhaps regain after a few years in Winnipeg or the Antarctic... but this lil' woman lives in the subtropics ...

So I ask you, what's an ageing gal to do? *grin, wink*

Hi, fellow Placers... checking in from the wrong side of the equator, once more...

LOL

Hi Jacqui. It's great to see you this morning. I know what you mean about living in the subtropics. I live in California, not the subtropics, but I too will never see porcelain skin again.

Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday?
