~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey, folks. We've had rain here the last couple of days. This morning around 7:15 CDT we had a power surge. The lights went off for less than a second and came back on, and it knocked my computer out. I've had that happen on occasion, but this time it must have zapped it pretty good. It won't boot up now. I have a surge protector, but I guess it didn't help this time.
Anyway, I'm on my old computer I was using before I got my new one just over a year ago. It was having problems at the time (so hence the new one), and it took me three times booting it up before it 'took'.
So, anyway, if I don't reply to your comments, it's due to technical difficulties/computer down, etc. (I'm hoping this computer will let me use it a while until I get my other one figured out). So I'm gonna call my buddy here shortly and likely take my computer to the guys here in town to see if they can revive it. I hope they can. I have some files that I wouldn't want to lose on that hard drive. Yikes !
Ya'll take care.
Richard
Good morning thank you to Amy's Place. Amy, thank you for asking me to do a graphic for CG's beautiful, spiritual poem, "Faith". I know that you wrote it, describing yourself and your feelings, CG, but when I read it, it made me think of illustrating it with that sketch I did of Dubya when he was campaigning in 2000. The words also seem to fit our President's own spirituality, and I asked Amy if she thought it would be a good one to use for this poem.
The drawing has been posted many, many times at FR, and I only made a couple of changes for Amy's Place.
Thank you all for your remarks. ConspiracyGuy, like Amy, I was really anxious for Sunday, for your poem is so beautiful, and it *fits* Dubya as much as Dubya fits your poem! I don't think we could have made a better match. Thank you!
NnB, I look forward to more of your own original poems for Lori's and my graphics (and whoever *else* may make a welcome graphic or two - I saw one VERY pretty one that I'm also anxious for Amy to unveil!)
Eyes Lift Up
In the collapse of those two towers,
Some saw a nation fall.
But what we lost was innocence,
Theyll see we can stand tall.
We reached up once and touched the moon,
And showed the world a way,
That man could reach out for the stars,
And leave his feet of clay.
Some do not choose to rise with us,
Theyre bound so to the Earth,
They wish to make us fall down, too,
And let dreams die before their birth.
It may be that our feet are soft,
Our will is made of steel,
To those who love the dirt so much,
The command will ring out. Heel!
To balance out the lives we lost,
A new thing has been born,
We dont know where the path will end,
That started Tuesday morn.
Our striving is for upward,
The glow of Heaven calls,
Snares and stumbles will not stop us,
Nor will any of our falls.
The fall of towers, fall of men,
The fall of years we have to spend,
As long as life and love rise up,
We do not care where it will end.
Our gaze is fixed upon the stars,
With vision of a Heaven firm,
Well lift ourselves as freedom soars,
And leave the dust to dreamless worm.
I forgot to post this here as well.
Decision
Pat Tillman was a special man,
He heard his nations call.
He answered just as others did,
For Freedom he stood tall.
He could have taken easy roads,
He really had it made.
He could have spent his leisure time,
Just lounging in the shade.
Instead he saw a tougher road,
He left the easy life.
He said good bye to friends and fame,
He hugged and left his wife
He trained and made Rangers home,
Then he went far away.
The work was tough, but so was he,
And never did he sway.
Along with other Brave and Young,
He fought the evil horde.
Hes left this life and moved along,
Now he is with the Lord.
We all salute this Brave Young Man,
And all who keep us free.
They are the best of all the best,
They fight for you and me.
Hi Amy.
Glad you had a wonderful time with Marissa. I had a lot of fun yesterday too; I spent time with my friends and went to a party. I'll be in an out today, but I'll definitely be around.
Happy Sunday everyone.
Hey y'all! I'm just checking in real quick - I'm out of town in DC for the next week, and I'll have limited access to a computer. I'm gonna miss everybody, but especially you two. Y'all are so nice to me, I'm gonna call y'all's mama and ask can I keep you :)
Talk to you soon!
