A minister was talking to a children's Sunday School class about kindness to animals. He cited the Biblical references to substantiate his case. "Now let's suppose," he said, "that you saw a bad person cutting off the tail of a cat. What Biblical quotation would you use to tell him of the terrible wrong he was doing?"

"I would point out to him," one of the class said, "what God hath joined together, let no man put asunder."

A minister arrived at his office one Monday morning to find a note had been slipped under the door. Drawing a single sheet of paper from an envelope he found written on it only one word: "FOOL".

The next Sunday he announced, "I have known many people who have written letters and forgot to sign their name.

"But this week I received a letter from someone who signed his name and had forgotten to write a letter."

Amy, You need to consider posting this on Daily Dose as well.

Both, The choice of the President for this one is truly touching and appropriate.

The Zoo with a 4 year old is one of lifes little pleasures. I look forward to grandchildren in the next few years. To see things through the eyes of a child is a facet of my personality that I work hard to maintain. Spending time with children helps. Right now I have the neighborhood children and a few grand nieces and nephews.

I want grand children!!!

Give Him Your Burden

Read: Psalm 55:16-23

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you. —Psalm 55:22

Bible In One Year: 2 Samuel 21-22; Luke 18:24-43

A poor man in Ireland was plodding along toward home, carrying a huge bag of potatoes. A horse and wagon finally drew up alongside him on the road, and the driver invited the man to climb aboard. After getting on the wagon, he sat down but continued to hold the heavy bag.

When the driver suggested that the man set the bag down in the wagon, he replied, "I don't want to trouble you too much, sir. You are giving me a ride already, so I'll just carry the potatoes."

"How foolish of him!" we say. Yet sometimes we do the same thing when we attempt to bear the burdens of our lives in our own strength. No wonder we become weary and overwhelmed with anxiety and fear.

In Psalm 55, David spoke of the anxiety he felt because his enemies were attacking him (vv.1-15). But then he gave his concerns to the Lord and was filled with renewed hope and confidence (vv.16-23). That's why he could write, "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you" (v.22).

When you recall the story of the man and his bag of potatoes, remember the simple lesson it illustrates: Rather than trying to bear your burdens by yourself, set them down in God's hands. —Henry Bosch

Give Him each perplexing problem,
All your needs to Him make known;
Bring to Him your daily burdens—
Never carry them alone! —Adams

God invites us to burden Him with what burdens us.

I saw your work posted earlier, but could not respond til now.

Very nice to see on a Sunday morning, Thank You! To see Billie's capturing of our respectful president in prayer gives me a feeling of security that our nation is currently in good hands.

CG, your direct and powerful words are inspirational, and no one can doubt the sincerity of your heart.

Dear Amy, thank you again for providing the showcase and artistic synergy for this wonderful talent. And please Ma'am, may I have some more?

Thank Amy for that. I wrote it thinking about the way I am. She put the poem with Billie's drawing and it seemed to fit the President as well.

I realy like the final product.

Thank you NnB. Billie's picture and my poem would not have come together witout Amy. It is as if I wrote it for the picture, but I didn't see it until this morning.

I notice your spirituality is sneaking into your writings as well. It was hard for me at first because I felt like
I may be trivializing my faith by putting it in my simple humble work. Then it clicked that maybe just maybe it may spark a flame in just one reader's heart. That was all it took.

Let it flow.
