The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

And usually the brakes doesn't work or I don't know how to drive that particular car.

I'm in the backseat of a car speeding down the highway or strapped into the passenger side bucket seat and I can't get over to the driver's side....

Another under-appreciated movie is "Silver Streak" with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.

Since I was six years old my two favorite movies were MP & the Holy Grail and Silver Streak in that order. Some other of my old favorites were The Last Remake of Beau Geste and Murder By Death.

That's the only drawback to having young children when you are elderly!

What a silly girl you are!

Heh, can't help you with the etiquette. When SSQ and I sent our wedding invites, we forgot to put a return address on the envelopes! Didn't even think about it until his Mom called asking where folks should send gifts. OOPS!

Well I think I may have figured this posting out thanks to some help from you guys. Here is a pic of me at the coffee shop with a local we call "the Juice Guy" because we dont know his name. THis is one of his specialty drinks that he makes for the people he likes. Everyone else just gets a plain glass of juice. All is well here, and it's starting to get hot. It's been in the mid 80's all week. Now that I know how to do this you all can look forward to pics more often.

Hair, got a LOTR question = for ALL

In an editorial on Townhall this a.m. the following quote from LotR.

How could Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" (LOTR) be more appropriate for this hour, with quotes such as these from the Oscar-sweeping "Return of the King" - marking the end of Middle Earth's Third Age? (1) "(There will be) a day when the age of men comes crashing down, but it is not this day, oh men of the West." And (2) "Let us together rebuild this world, so that we may share in the days of peace."

And could LOTR possibly be any less religious than Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" - with quotes from the final installment such as this: "The age of men is over; the time of The One has come"?

Does anyone know where "the time of The One has come" is in the book?

The last quote isn't in the book at least exactly like that... I did a word search for it... And I don't think it is in the film! It doesn't make sense.... the quotes would be something like "the age of ~elves~ has ended"... or "the time of men has ~come~".

Indeed! I have to remember to call the minister up there today.... we've still been playing phone tag, and we don't have a minister for the wedding!

Good morning!

Well...MOST of the medication ended up in the kitty instead of ON her or on me...hopefully that's enough! I'm hoping the vet figures that at last a little won't make it...

She seems to be feeling a little better. Was up and walking around for a bit.

Gotta head to work, where it's going to be a verrry rough day. Sigh...

She has pink stuff all over her neck does she?

And that was the end of it?

Hope she continues to feel better, Rosie.
