The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Anxiety dream, hmm...

I'm driving near a lake, and the road keeps getting nearer and nearer to the water, until eventually the road is covered by water and disappears... variations include driving on a road in the country which eventually turns into a trail and then disappears, or driving on a road under construction and suddenly realizing the construction isn't finished (usually as my car flies off the end of the uncompleted overpass...)

Ask for a bunch of really crazy things. Or else things no one would ever get you. Might be a good time to pick up a new hobby.

I have a lot of dreams where I'm driving with someone and they suddenly get out of the car while it's moving or become incapacitated and I have to take over the driving. And usually the brakes doesn't work or I don't know how to drive that particular car. I've had those dreams since I was little. *shudder*

My flight tomorrow is at 5:30. Only... I haven't been dieting and I just discovered that the chocolate went to my hips. So my good pants don't fit right. So Mom and I are going shopping and having lunch before my flight.

Bottom line, I leave work at 11 and probably won't see anyone until Sunday afternoon, late, when I'm back with pictures. Which will be spammed to your email account until you agree to at least make long visits to me in Colorado. Bwaahaahaa.

What I would do is just wait until asked. Most folks will probably give you "pretties" that they select themselves,

You probably have two of everything already anyhow, it's not as though you are 18 without even a toaster or an extra set of bedsheets.

Then you can smile and say, "Well, some folks asked us, so we registered at XXX. Thanks for thinking of us."

Did you register at the local tack store? ;-)

You got rocks growing up out of the ground? Yikes... well... I'm guessing that they aren't running from something scary, and they aren't floating up because of groundwater. Maybe the services of a geologist are in order.

For some reason the idea of an as-yet unrealized volcano keeps running through my head. That would be... bad. :-)

Hmmmm......I haven't consulted the Book of Etiquette on this but I've always asked if the bride was registered and where.

So unless I've been an uncouth slob all these years, I would say wait until asked.

I think that last one happened in The Blues Brothers :)

I have ones that are kinda similar in theme to this, though the imagery is different, where I'm trying to follow a bunch of secret passages through a house but eventually the passages get so narrow I can't move.
