The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

One of my backpacking friends had a female cat that lived to 26 years.Wow! I've never heard of a cat that old. I wonder how its behavior changed as it got older.

Howdy howdy there... :-)

That's really interesting that the grooming had such a big effect! I wonder if that helped her deal with hairballs or something. BTW, my cat urped up all the time, too. He'd inevitably do it twice in a row when he did it--never knew why.

I think I'm way too behind on posts to see what's going on here tonight. Ya'll have been a talkative bunch! When I was home this afternoon sitting to freep there wasn't much going on.... must been before my shower huh? :-)
How was your day today? You over all that gravel hauling now?

The school dreams are basic anxiety dreams, which I believe are the most common type of dream. I get those so much I feel like I'm picking up an associate's degree in my sleep. Or I would be if I didn't keep missing class. ;-)
Snakes are deeply symbolic. What do you think of when you think of snakes?

Tea... hmm... but I dislike warm drinks. Me too. I even drink my coffee on ice. That reminds me, I have to make some more vanilla syrup for my coffee. Yum!

I used to do that with Excedrin Migraine Aspirin for years, until a few months ago. I started drinking Tension Tamer and Head-Aid tea, and I've been able to quit taking Excedrin. A few years I figured out a why to relax my head just so and make most headaches go away but I have never been able to explain it to anyone. It started when I figured out that I was making most headaches worse by thinking about the pain and sort of tensing up. By reversing that certain types of headaches go away. Not all types but the ones like sinus ones that seem most common for me.
I finally figured out what was causing my headaches. With all the hormones I have going on right now, I get vey emotional. Everytime I stress out, panic, or cry, I get a massive headache that puts me down on the couch or in bed for hours. I can't function when I get a headache these days. Nothing but rest gets rid of them. My tactic is to avoid getting that riled up in the first place.

The day today was productive. Hired two people today, two down one to go, and the third may already be found. Won't fill that one till next week though. There's a really interesting prospect that we're actually paying to fly to DC next week for an interview. I don't usually do that.

Flaming monitors are cool, aren't they?I wish I'd gotten to see it. I was in the conference room when a guy came bursting in with the news. All I expirienced was the smell. It took a while, but I narrowed it down to being similar to burnt peanut butter. ugh.
I asked if my new one would be a 48" plasma screen. All I got was laughter.

Thanks... we're both mostly over the "cold" part... some lingering sinus build-up on my part, trying hard to keep it from becoming a sinus infection. (I'm prone to them.)I have the same problem--also tend to get chest congestion after a cold, which can take longer to clear up than the cold itself.

I think that last one happened in The Blues Brothers :) Ah yes, "The Blues Brothers", another favorite of mine.
Another under-appreciated movie is "Silver Streak" with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. Forget everyone else in it, their comic interaction makes the movie. That, and the nice Henry Mancini score. And one absolutely gorgeous scene of their stolen Jag XKE taking a sweeping curve at dawn in the middle of endless farm country with Mancini's score fitting in perfectly.
And I'd be remiss by not mentioning "Ruthless People" and "Trading Places".

Sounds productive! More people to do your work so you can take a little vacation! Want some ideas about where you could go? I know someplace that's really nice for the next 2 or 3 months. ~grin~
So, are you flying to DC or someone else?

g'nad; grin, note to self "fletch more arrows" grin. Glad to hear it.
To: Wneighbor
Nah, I'm not going to DC for this. Somebody else is going. This is a good thing.
To: Fedora
Very perceptive theories there.
I've read that a lot of people have similar dreams about flying or turning into a bird
Occassionally, I get the classic-Superman gift of leaping (not flying) for long distances. But not very often. :(
